10. It is given that f ( x ) partly varies as x and partly varies as x2. Suppose that f (5) = 140 and f (2) = 32 .

(ii) It is given that A and B are the points of intersection of H and the x-axis. Suppose C is a

right circular cones A and B. The height of cone A is twice of the height of cone B.

parts are equal. If the curved surface area of cone A is 800𝜋 cm2, find the curved surface area

16. The mean height of a group of students is 160 cm. The heights of Mary and Peter are 158 cm and
170 cm respectively. The standard score of Mary’s height is −0.5 .

(b) A student, Tom, with height 160 cm withdraws from the group. Someone claims that the
standard score of Peter’s height will increase after Tom withdraws. Do you agree? Explain your
answer. (2 marks)
