INTRODUCTION
Possessive adjectives: We use possessive adjectives before nouns to show
possession-
I you he she it we they. My, your, his, her, it our, their. Her name’s Molly. Our family
name is Gates
Numbers: Ten, twenty, twenty three, thirty, forty, fifty, fifty seven, sixty, seventy
eighty, ninety, ninety one, one hundred
To be- present simple- Positive and negative. We use to talk about people and their
age nationality or where they come from.
Examples: I am twelve years = I’m. You are my friend = You’re. He is ten = He’s. She is
eight = She’s. It is my favorite = It’s.
Examples: I’m not thirteen. You aren’t my brother. He isn’t eleven. She isn’t nine. It
isn’t bad. We aren’t sisters. They aren’t seventy.
To be – Present simple questions: We use to be in questions to ask about people and
their age nationality or when they come from.
Examples: Are you eleven? Yes I am / No I’m not. Is your sister ten? Yes she is / No
she isn’t.
Possessive: We use name + - s to show a person’s favorite things or things people
have. Examples: Nina’s favorite color is yellow. Sam’s favorite food is Italian

There is – There are: We use there’s/there isn’t + a/an + noun to say where
something is. We use there are + some + noun or there aren’t + any + noun to say
where two or more things are.
+There’s a message in the bine. + There are some instructions on the table - There
isn’t a key on the table. - There aren’t any papers on the bed. Is there another door? :
Yes there is /No, there isn’t. Are there any papers in the bin? : Yes there are /No,
there aren’t
Have got: We can use have got to talk about part of building or person. We can also
use it to talk about relationships with family or friends or possession.
+We’ve got a big apartment. : It’s got a yellow walls. -It hasn’t got a balcony- We
haven’t got garage. Has it got stairs upside? Have you got a garden? :Yes it has /No it
hasn’t Yes we have/ No we haven’t

We use have with different nouns to mean different things. Have breakfast
/lunch/dinner. Have a shower/have a bath.
We use to talk about the time of the day. In the morning/afternoon/evening.
We use some words with specific actions. Get up/dressed. Go to school/bed
Present simple: Positive and negative. +School starts at 7:30. They go to a small
school. - I/We/You/They don’t talk. School starts at 7:30 in the morning. She goes to
the girl’s school. He studies.
Present simple: Questions and short answers. We use do/does for questions and
shorts answers:
Do + I/We/You/They + infinitive +? Do you walk to school? Yes I do/ No I don’t
Does + He/She/It + Infinitive +? Does your brother go with you? Yes he does/ No he
doesn’t

Adverbs of frequency: Adverb before main verb. Subject + adverb + verb. Example:
She always eats in the early morning.
Subject + don’t /doesn’t + adverb + verb. Example: He doesn’t often go out in the hot
sun. Adverb after be Subject + be + adverb. Example: She’s usually at home
We use ‘’the’’ to talk about specific places, things, people. Camels live in the desert.
We also use ‘’the’’ when there is only one in the world. The Earth, the sun, the
moon.
Present simple: Questions words. We use When/What/Where/Who/Why and how +
do/does to ask for information.
Where do they live? What do you know? When do you sleep? How do you spell
koala? Why does it sit in the grass? How often does it swim?
We use and to link similar ideas. Penguins walk and swim. We use but to link
different ideas. Fairy penguin’s lives in Australia, but other penguins live in cold
places

We use imperatives to give instructions: To be polite, we often use please before or
after imperatives. Please remember. Come here, please.
+Press de X button. Collect lots of treasure. -Don’t cross the street in front of cars.
Don’t forget.
Must/mustn’t: W use must/mustn’t before a verb to give a strong instruction.
I/you/he/she/we/they + must/mustn’t. Must nit + infinitive.
Examples: You must be careful on busy streets. You mustn’t or must not walk into
people.
Talking about travel. We use go + by with different types of transport.
Examples: I go by bus/car/train to school.
We can also use other verbs to describe movement/actions. Example: I cycle/walk to
school
Can/can’t. We use can to talk about ability: Examples: I can see the taxi. I can’t see
the taxi. In questions: Can you see it? Yes, I can/No I can’t
Object pronouns: We use object pronouns instead of nouns, usually because we
know what the object. They usually come after the verb.
Subject pronouns: I, you, she, he, it, we, they.
Object pronouns: Me, you, him, her, it, us, and them
Can you help me? I can’t see it

GRAMMAR SECTION UNIT FIVE


Present continuous: We use the present continuous for something happening now or
something happening in a picture or photo. We use the verb to be |am, is, are| + the
main verb + ing.
+We’re painting them with bright colors. We’re sitting at the table right now. -I’m
not moving. We aren’t eating them at the moment.
Are you painting? Yes, I am/No, I’m not. We also use the present continuous for
something happening around now: It’s November and we’re celebrating. Spellings
sometimes change. Sit for sitting, and make for making

We usually use It’s + adjective to talk about the weather. Its


sunny/cloudy/windy/foggy/cold/cool/warm/hot. We can also use a verb for special
examples. It’s raining/snowing.
Countable and uncountable nouns with a/some/any. Uncountable nouns are things
we can’t count. They don’t usually have a plural form. We don’t use a/an before
uncountable nouns, we use some.
Countable singular: A drink, a sweet, an apple. Plural: Some drinks, some sweets,
some apples. Uncountable: Some food, some fruit, some cheese, some pasta
