My letter to St.

John Baptist De La Salle

Dear St. John Baptist De La Salle,

Good day, St. John! I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am
writing this letter to seek guidance on matters of life. I have held you in high regard ever since I
first learned of you, and your life stories inspired me greatly and have become an integral part of
my upbringing. Through the studies of your life, I have gained priceless lessons, not only from
your notable achievements, but also from the lowest points of your life, which serve a substantial
amount of learning.

Knowing your life, you have lived through numerous events that are truly heartbreaking.
A notable instance, in my opinion, are the betrayals you endured from people you had trusted;
specifically, the act done by Br. Nicholas Vuyart. Despite this, you have continued to embody La
Sallian values and principles.

In light of this, I have had similar occurrences in my own 18 years of life. As for me, I
consider these moments of betrayal as devastating as they can be. These instances have left a big
scar in my life in some way. Up until this day, I am still in the process of recovering from these
pivotal moments in my life. Nevertheless, I am grateful to God for letting me have such obstacles
in life and for blessing me with supportive family and friends. Despite the deceptions I have
faced, I remain to uphold my values and principles that align with yours.

With that, I ask you this question of mine: how do I get to fully recover from such pains
caused to me by other people? In addition to this, may I have any further advice on how to
navigate stumbling blocks that I may encounter in the future? I do hope to hear back from you,
St. John. I wholeheartedly thank you as well for finding the time to read this letter!

Sincerely,

St. John Baptist De La Salle’s letter to me

Dear Aidan,

I hope you are doing well. I have received your letter and understand the situation you are
in right now. I know that what you are facing right now and have experienced back then is as
devastating as you have mentioned yourself. But please keep in mind that all of these things
happening to us are only a test of faith given by our Lord. Remember to anchor your faith in
Him, and to continue keeping on no matter what life may throw at you. Always run towards our
God, because He alone will supply the greatest strength that we will need to finish this race set
before us. Keep in mind that God is the greatest provident of all, and through Him alone we will
be able to achieve our greatest feats. In this life, I do think that casting all of our burdens on our
Lord will help us set free ourselves from the experiences that have bounded us. However,
seeking professional help will greatly aid in relieving and speeding up the healing process of
your internal wounds. Doing activities that result in a much more positive outlook on life will
also help you further accelerate your recovery from such happenings. Combining prayer and
your faith in God, as well as what I have previously mentioned, will for sure help you in your
battle.

In conclusion, Aidan, we may not know why there are moments like what you and I have
gone through. Although these circumstances happen for such reasons in order for us to remain
faithful to our Lord. Remember to trust God in all of your ways, pray mightily to Him, and keep
in mind what I have said. I do know that what you have encountered is tough, as I too have felt
your baggage; but once you have overcome such barriers in life, I know for a fact that you will
immerse yourself as a victorious person, as a living testimony of God’s graciousness, and as an
amazing work done by Him.

Sincerely,

St. John Baptist De La Salle
