F680V6

1.1 Updating the Software of the F680V6

In this demo of a multi-AP hybrid network, the Controller is an F680
V6.0.20P3N13. The Telnet function of the device is enabled by default and the
device can be updated to V6.0.20P3N13 directly from the general version. If
the device is not the general version, contact the corresponding product
contact person. If the device is already V6.0.20P3N13, which is the latest
version, skip Section 1.1.
(1) Power on the F680V6. Open the login page using the URL
“http://192.168.1.1”.Enter “admin” as the username and “Web@0063” as the
password in the page shown in Figure 1-1.

2 Updating the Software of and Configuring the H196A

In this demo of a multi-AP hybrid network, the Agent is an H196A
V9.0.0P1N4. The Telnet function of the device is enabled by default and the
device can be updated to V9.0.0P1N4 directly from the general version. If the
device is not the general version, contact the corresponding product contact
person. If the device is already V9.0.0P1N4, which is the latest version, skip
Chapter 2.
(1) Power on the H196A. Open the login interface using the URL
“http://192.168.1.1”.Enter “superadmin” as the username and “Haikui_V2” as
the password in the page shown in Figure 2-1.

3 Mesh Networking

3.1 Networking via the WPS Button

(1) Press the WPS button of the Controller. The indicator of the Controller
begins to flash.
(2) Place the agent within range of the Controller. It is recommended to set
the 5GHz signal strength between Controller and Agent to around -
65dBm. You can use the inSSIDer software or an app such as Wi-Fi
MagicBox and WiFi Analyzer to scan.
(3) Press the WPS button of the Controller. Then press the WPS button of
the Agent within two minutes. Check the changes in the status of the
indicator of the Agent. After the indicator changes from flashing green
to solid blue, the network is set up. The change in the status of the
indicator takes around one minute. By now, the Agent is automatically
configured and the mesh networking is completed. Figure 3-1 shows
the network topology.
(4) To add another Agent, repeat Steps 1 to 3.

3.2 Networking via the Zlife Lite App

Download the Zlife Lite app from the App Store or Google Play and install
it. Open the app and complete the setup as instructed by the app. The
detailed steps are as follows:
(1) Power on the Controller. Connect a LAN port of the Controller to the
PC via an Ethernet cable. Configure the Controller as instructed by
Chapter 1.
(2) Connect Phone 1, which is an iPhone XR, to the Wi-Fi network of the
Controller. After that, open the Zlife Lite app. The page as shown in
Figure 3-2 is displayed.

4 Multi-AP (MAP) Networking

4.1 Star Topology

Use the inSSIDer software or the Zlife Lite app to view the signal strength
of the Controller, Agent 1 and Agent 2. Adjust the relative locations of the APs
in the MAP network so that the 5GHz signal of the Controller covers Agent 1
and Agent 2. It is recommended to set the 5GHz signal strength between
Controller and Agent 1/Agent 2 to around -65dBm. Place the APs in such a
way that the signal strength between Agent 1 and Agent 2 is weak or that the
two Agents do not overlap in coverage. As shown in Figure 4-1, the dashed-
line circle represents the wireless coverage of the Controller, and the solid-line
circles represent the wireless coverage of the Agents. Figure 4-2 shows the
star network topology as seen in the webpage. “C” represents the Controller,
while “A1” and “A2” represent Agent 1 and Agent 2, respectively. These
representations also apply to Figure 4-4.After the MAP network is set up, view
the topology in the webpage and the app, as shown in Figure 4-2 and Figure
4-3.

4.2 Tree Topology

Use the inSSIDer software or the Zlife Lite app to view the signal strength
of the Controller, Agent 1 and Agent 2. Adjust the relative locations of the APs
in the MAP network so that the 5GHz signal of the Controller covers Agent 1
and Agent 2. The 5GHz signal strength between Controller and Agent 1 and
that between Agent 1 and Agent 2 should be strong, with the recommended

values being -65dBm or higher. The 5GHz signal strength between Agent 2
and Controller should be weak, with the recommended value being at around
-75dBm. See Figure 4-4.After the MAP network is set up, view the topology in
the webpage and the app, as shown in Figure 4-5 and Figure 4-6.
Note: To change the star network into the tree network, make sure to
power off and then restart the Agents.

5.1 Setting Up a Tree Network in a Real Environment

Establish a MAP network with a tree topology as shown in Figure 5-

1.Note:
The 5GHz signal of the Controller at P0 is strong (-65dBm or higher).
(2) The 5GHz signal of Agent 1 at P1 is strong (-65dBm or higher).
(3) The 5GHz signal of Agent 2 at P2 is strong (-65dBm or higher).
(4) The Controller covers P0 and P1; Agent 1 covers P0, P1 and P2; and
Agent 2 covers P1 and P2.
(5) It is recommended that the three devices be placed in such a way that the
5GHz signal strength between the Controller and Agent 1 and that
between Agent 1 and Agent 2 range from -65dBm to -70dBm. In an
actual demo, on-site testing needs to be conducted to determine the
distance.

6 Setting Up a VLC Streaming Server

(1) Install the VLC media player on PC 1, which runs on a Windows
operating system. (The player can be downloaded at
https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html and in this document, we
suppose the “vlc-0.9.8a” version is installed.) Store video files of mainstream
formats in PC 1.
(2) Install the VLC media player on a mobile terminal such as Phone 1.
The mobile terminal can run on both Android and iOS. Power on the
Controller, and then connect one of its LAN ports to PC 1 via an
Ethernet cable. After that, right-click the “Internet access” icon at the
lower right corner of the screen of PC 1. Click “Open Network &
Internet settings”. In the window displayed, click “Change connection
properties”, as shown in Figure 6-1.Then click “Network 3”, as shown in
