INPUT DEVICES

Input devices atre hardware components that enable users to provide data and instructions to a
computer. These devices play a crucial role in facilitating communication between the user and
the computer system. The convert human-readable data into a form that the computer can
process.

Following are the common types of input devices :-

1. Keyboard :
The layout of keyson a keyboard usually follows a standard configuration, such as the QWERTY
layout. In addition to alphanumeric keys, keyboards often include special keys like Enter, Shift,
Ctrl ( Control), Alt ( Alternate ) and function keys ( F1-F12 ). Some keyboards also have
multimedia keys for controlling audio or video playback.

 Primary input device for entering alphanumeric characters, commands and other data.
 Variants include standard keyboards, ergonomic keyboards and virtual keyboards.
2. Mice and pointing devices :

 Used for moving a cursor on a graphical user interface ( GUI ) and selecting items.
 Types include traditional mice, trackballs, touchpads and stylus-based devices.

3. Scanners :

 Convert physical documents or images into digital format for computer use.
 Common types include flatbed scanners and document scanners.

 Capture still images or videos and transfer them to a computer for editing or storage.
 Include webcams, digital cameras and integrated cameras on smart phones.

5. Microphones :

 Capture audio input, allowing users to record voice, make voice commands or participate
in online communication.
 Used in voice recognition systems, video conferencing and audio recording

Input devices facilitate the entry of textual and numerical data into the computer system.

 Control ;
They enable users to interact with and control the computer, navigating through applications and
interfaces.

 Manipulation of Objects ;
Input devices like mice allow users to manipulate on-screen objects.

 Communications ;
Devices like microphones support communication through voice input.

OUTPUT DEVICES
Output devices are hardware components that convey information from a computer to the user in
a human-readable form. These devices are essential for presenting the results of computations,
processing and user interactions.

Following are some output devices :-

1. Monitors/Displays ;

Present visual information including text, images and videos for the user to view.

2. Printers ;
