So first of all we would like to pay our highest respects to teacher and good evening to all my sweetest
classmates. In this moment it’s really my great honored to present all of you one of my research topic ,
which is talking about “Zero Plastic”. So before we get into our topic let’s us introduce ourselves first…… .
So after we’ve introduce ourselves we would like to get into our topic.
Today our group are going to raised up 3 contents :
- Why we want to organize this project
- Cause and effect
- Solution
- Activities
- Timeline
So today I’m going to tell you about why I want to organize this topic.
1. The reason why I want to organize this topic about using plastic is to raise awareness. using too plastic
is also harmful to our health. Plastic is negatively affecting people and the environment at each stage of
their lifecycle. Therefore, the plastic we have already used These microplastic pieces are now found
almost everywhere, including in our air, water, soil, and bodies, you may eat about 40 pounds of plastic
in your lifetime. Plastics in the environment pollute our water, harm wildlife, and have largely unknown
health impacts for us. More than 10 millions ton of plastic are dumped in our ocean every year and keep
increasing with the rising population and it impacts us whole and also the marine life which is essentials
to the whole world. Not to mention, experts said that there will be more plastic than the fishes in our
ocean. And also if I had a change I would like to share this also want to let the kids as well as last our
next generation know about zero plastic and the environmental issues.
2. Cause and affective : According to the estimate of ACRA Foundation, urban Cambodians use more
than 2,000 plastic bags every year. In Phnom Penh alone, around 10 million plastic bags are used every
day, which is 10 times higher than average consumption in the European Union and China. Because of
this problem cause and affect of using plastic.
•Cause of using plastic :
As you know plastic that use for nowadays it from people that buy it and use it especially at market
when the buyer bought something they will packing into plastic bag .and the price of plastic is really
moderate because they want requirements for people to use it more .
Using plastic in our country is become a first choice because they haven't thought about using Eco
product like paper bag, cotton bag to replace plastic but they thought when they using plastic after that
I just throw it away .
•Effect of using plastic :
Plastic pollution can alter habitats and natural processes, reducing ecosystems' ability to adapt to climate
change, directly affecting millions of people's livelihoods, food production capabilities and social well-
being.when landfill in Cambodia are full those plastic will be throw it to other beautiful places so this
really serious crisis for people and government.
3. The solution : Here are some activities to keep our environment plastic free :
⁃ Keep yourself from disposable plastic : Ninety percent of the plastic items in our daily lives are used
once and then chucked: grocery bags, plastic wrap, disposable cutlery, straws, coffee-cup lids. You should
take note on how often you use these products and replace it with the reusable one like metal bottle,
mug, metal straw or bamboo straw, non-plastic grocery bag, reusable nappies and a lot more.
⁃ Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as
trash and turning them into new products. Recycling prevents the emissions of many greenhouse gases
and water pollutants, and saves energy. Using recovered material generates less solid waste. Recycling
helps to reduce the pollution caused by the extraction and processing of virgin materials.
⁃ Cook more : Not only is it healthier, but making your own meals doesn’t involve takeout containers or
lots of bags. For those times when you do order in or eat out, tell the establishment you don’t need any
plastic cutlery or, for some serious extra credit, bring your own food-storage containers to restaurants for
leftovers.
⁃ Raise awareness about the impact of plastic.
School should teach children more on what are around them rather than just focusing on career-based
subjects. People would be likely to aware more about the issues and with lots of co-operation, we can
make world a better place and plastic free.
