Summary
This report submits the EMC characteristics of the equipment ASN 1620 SOFTNODE R6.4 Step 2.
The equipment has been tested with reference to the following standards:
- EN 300386 V2.1.1 (Ed. 2016), Telecommunication network equipment; Electro Magnetic Compatibility
(EMC) requirements; Harmonised Standard covering the essential requirements of the Directive
2014/30/EU;
- EN 55032 ed. 2012 + AC 2013 “Electromagnetic compatibility of multimedia equipment - Emission
requirements”, Class A;
and to additional standard:
- ETSI ES 201468 V1.6.1 (Ed. 2016), Additional Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements and
resistibility requirements for telecommunications equipment for enhanced availability of service in specific
applications, class: "Telecommunication Centres, Level 2".
- CISPR 32 ed. 2: 2015 “Electromagnetic compatibility of multimedia equipment - Emission requirements”

The receiving antennas were placed at 10m from the EUT’s edge. The maximum emissions were detected
by varying and polarizing the antenna in height 1m to 4m, along with rotation in azimuth 0°÷360°.
The test was performed into semi anechoic room (S.A.R.) whose characteristics are reported at the Chapter
16.

The maximum emission is measured at 3m, by moving and polarizing the receive antenna in height along
with rotation of the EUT in azimuth (0°÷360°).
The test was performed into semi anechoic room (S.A.R.), whose characteristics are reported in chapter
15. Additional RF absorber were placed on the floor to guarantee free-reflection conditions.

Calibration of the field and test were carried out into full anechoic room (F.A.R.); whose characteristics are
in chapter 16.
For test in the frequency range 1GHz - 6GHz, additional RF absorbers were placed on the floor to guarantee
free reflection condition.
The EUT performances were assessed by monitoring the ports stated in chapter 4.6 of this report.

The calibration of the interfering magnetic field was carried out in absence of the EUT, by using a magnetic
field meter placed in the centre of the induction coil. The magnetic field was calibrated to guarantee the
field intensity level requested and then applied to the EUT by immersion method (according to the sub-
clause 4.4 of the basic standard), placing the coil on each orthogonal axis.
The EUT performances were assessed by monitoring the ports stated in chapter 4.6 of this report.

Test Method
Test specifications:
the test levels are defined in: ETSI EN 300 386
ETSI ES 201 468
the test methods are defined in:
Electrical Fast Transients (EFT) ETSI EN 61000-4-4
Continuous Wave (CW 0.15MHz - 80MHz) ETSI EN 61000-4-6
Electrical Fast Transients (EFT): EFTs were coupled to the power terminals for a period of 2 minutes on
each polarity (+ / -). The reference test method is in the basic standard EN61000-4-4, at the sub-clause
7.2.2 "Methods of coupling the test voltage to the EUT: power supply lines".
Continuous Wave (CW 0.15MHz-80MHz): the interfering voltage was coupled through CDN-M3, as
described in the basic standard EN61000-4-6, sub-clause 6.2.2 "Coupling and decoupling network".
The test signal was 80% AM modulated with 1kHz sinewave; the frequency increment steps were 1% of
the fundamental.
The EUT performances are assessed by monitoring the ports stated in chapter 4.6 of this report.

Test Results
Electrical Fast Transients (EFT):
The test result is COMPLIANT to the more severe performance criterion A stated in chapter 4.6, as the EUT
operates as intended during and after the exposure to the transients, of level ±1kV and ±2kV.
Continuous Wave (CW 0.15MHz - 80MHz):
The test result is COMPLIANT, to the performance criteria A stated in chapter 4.6, as the EUT operates as
intended during and after the exposure to the continuous interferences, of level 3V and 10V.
Measurement Uncertainty
Electrical Fast Transients
The uncertainty of the generator used is within the tolerances, stated in the relevant chapters of the basic
standard EN 61000-4-4.
Continuous Wave
The interfering signal was calibrated with an uncertainty interval, computed on the basis of 95% level of
confidence (according to the procedure N° 8BP400500016URBUF of this laboratory), of:

The room is a ground reflection design without absorber on the working floor surface.
Thus, the room test environment can be related to an open area reflection test site. The site attenuation
of the room is available in this laboratory.
The test room is completed with the turntable and the antenna position mast.
Measurement instrumentation is located into a shielded control room.
For radiated emission test >1GHz additional absorbers are placed on the floor to guarantee free-reflection
conditions, as requested by the reference document.
For radiated immunity test 80MHz-6GHz, the field uniformity is guaranteed over 75% of surface (1.5m x
1.5m, 0.8m above ground plane) by placing ferrite plates and absorbers on floor.
