Nemo Handy Site Acceptance
Perform site acceptance and verification testing in the field in a very smooth, cost-effective, and user-
friendly manner. Load site information to Nemo Cloud and view the sites on a map with detailed site
information. The imported sites can be selected and assigned to a measurement project. Acceptance
tests for selected sites are generated automatically by Nemo Cloud. In addition, a Nemo Cloud user can
pre-define pass/fail acceptance criteria during a measurement project configuration. When a Nemo Cloud
user has finished configuring a measurement project and has published the project, the Nemo Handy
device in the field receives a testing guide for selected sites. A field user selects the site to be tested from
the map view in Nemo Handy. Next, by selecting a sector to be tested, Nemo Handy guides the field user
to the right testing location. Once a field user is in the right spot, he/she begins pre-defined site testing.
The field user can have instant feedback based on a Nemo Cloud user’s defined pass/fail criterion. In
addition, a Nemo Cloud user can have the same feedback in real-time with the comprehensive set of
reported KPIs in Nemo Cloud´s Monitoring view. A separate Nemo Handy Site Acceptance license option
is needed for this edition.

service/quality of experience statistics are displayed in real time for all of the supported applications.
The real-time results of both manual and script-aided testing can be monitored throughout the duration of
the connection via various data views, including text and grid views, bar, line, and gauge graphs.
Bar and line views display parameters in both numerical and graphical format. Line graph scales change
according to the selected parameter. Automatic scaling is also possible. Bar graph scales can be displayed
for each bar simultaneously. Integer parameters can be displayed either in decimal or in octal format.
12
Application Testing
Nemo Handy supports built-in application testing options. It is possible to test a wide range of applications
manually and with scripts. The quality of service/quality of experience key performance indicators (KPIs)
logged by Nemo Handy include connection setup delay, download time, time-to-content delay,
throughput, and more.
VoWiFi/ViWiFi testing
With voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) and video over WiFi (ViWiFi) voice and video information can be sent over
the wireless broadband network in digital form. The technology uses the IEEE 802.11 set of specifications
(informally known collectively as WiFi) for transporting data over wireless local area networks (WLAN)
and the internet. Nemo Handy offers support to VoWiFi/ViWiFi measurements in the same scale as with
VoLTE/ViLTE measurements with terminals that support testing over WiFi.
13
Voice quality testing (optional)
Nemo Handy enables voice quality measurements based on the POLQA (ITU-T Rec. P.863) algorithm in
the uplink and downlink directions and in super wideband (SWB) and narrowband (NB) POLQA
measurement modes. Voice quality testing is supported with the latest Samsung terminals. Voice quality
testing can be performed between two Nemo Handy terminals or between a Nemo Handy terminal and
Nemo Server. The voice quality score (MOS) is calculated in real-time in Nemo Handy, and the individual
MOS scores are displayed on the screen during the call.
TWAMP testing
TWAMP is a higher-layer protocol for UDP data transfer between a client and a server and is meant for
performance measurements of firewalls, routers, and IP gateways. Compared to other latency test
protocols, the advantage with TWAMP is the main protocol used for real-time applications. It is more
accurate (< 1 ms accuracy), it includes information about inter packet arrival time (Jitter) and it is widely
used in the industry. TWAMP also provides a way to generate different traffic profiles to emulate real end-
user data traffic. TWAMP testing is an optional feature.
14
Social media testing (optional)
YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Dropbox testing, Line,
WhatsApp, Viber, BiP Messenger, Zalo, Google Drive, and email
testing (optional)
Perform tests on social media, Dropbox, Google Drive, and email to test the efficiency and functionality of
data transfer services. You can test profile loading, homepage loading, contact list loading, posting feeds,
and information sharing.

Nemo Handy offers support for manual and scripted testing of FTP data transfers. FTP transfer-related
measurement events stored in the Nemo Handy log file include data connection attempts, data
connection successes, data disconnects, and data connection failures.
HTTP sessions
Nemo Handy offers support for manual and scripted testing of HTTP data transfers. HTTP transfer-related
measurement events stored in the Nemo Handy log file include data connection attempts, data
connection successes, data disconnects, and data connection failures.
ICMP ping
Nemo Handy offers support for manual and scripted Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) ping
testing. Ping-related measurement events stored in the Nemo Handy log file include ping attempts, ping
failures/successes, and ping success rates.
SMS messages
Nemo Handy offers support for manual and scripted SMS messages. SMS-related measurement events
stored in the Nemo Handy log file include SMS send attempts, SMS send successes/failures, and SMS
success rates.
15
Automated testing
Nemo Handy offers an automated testing mode, which allows you to schedule Nemo Handy to perform
measurements automatically using a calendar view. During the automated testing mode, the data views
are visible, but you cannot control the measurement or use forcing features. Log files can be
automatically sent to an FTP or HTTPS server. In automatic mode, Nemo Handy can also be remotely
controlled with SMS messages to start and stop measurements and to send the log files to the server.
IP packet capturing
Application-level data can be captured with Nemo Handy. The data is collected in a separate log file in
.pcap format. Pcap files can be processed with Nemo Outdoor, Keysight’s Nemo post-processing tools, or
Wireshark. By default, full IP capture, including IP and all the layers above, is logged. Pcap log files can
be very large if no filtering is applied. Therefore, it is practical to apply filtering to capture only the protocol
layers of interest. Capture filter rules are defined in the standard Wireshark filter format.
Indoor measurements
Nemo Handy provides indoor map support with an easy-to-use interface that includes zoom and pan
tools. Digital images can be imported to Nemo Handy and converted into map files (.tab), or you can take
a picture of a floorplan with the phone’s camera to be used in Nemo Handy as an indoor map. The
iBwave map format is also supported.
16
The scale of the map can be set based on a known distance on the map and the geodetic coordinates of
the map can be set based on two known coordinate positions. Nemo Handy also enables geocoding
indoor floorplans on top of Google Maps. You can modify existing floorplans that are not geocoded
directly from the Nemo Handy interface. The measurement route can be drawn on the map with markers
or by using GPS information.
In Nemo Handy, there are two ways to track the location of the Nemo Handy unit indoors and place
waypoints, i.e., markers, automatically. With the automated location mapping feature, a tracking module
is used to position the Nemo Handy unit and the measurement route is automatically displayed on the
device´s screen. The automatic indoor positioning feature enables placing markers automatically by
utilizing the camera and other sensors on the terminal to get the speed and position indoors when GPS is
not available. The faults in the network can be pinpointed accurately, ensuring reliable analysis of the
results, and allowing you to concentrate on the actual troubleshooting instead of on adding markers on
the map while walking.
All network parameters supported by the terminal’s mobile trace interface, including signaling messages,
are logged and made available for playback with Nemo Outdoor and for post-processing with Keysight’s
Nemo post-processing tools.
Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) testing is available with Nemo Handy. By using iBwave indoor plans
or BTS files you can see indoor small cell antennas and transmitters displayed on the indoor map. During
a walking test, a user-defined visual notification on the map indicates whether the current DAS antenna is
transmitting or not.
Nemo Handy enables the exchange of project information directly between the iBwave Planner and
Nemo Handy. The iBwave Planner and Nemo Handy both run on the same device using the IBWC file as
a common medium. This allows you to create a floor plan in the iBwave Planner, switch to Nemo Handy
for the measurements, and switch back to the iBwave Planner to create a preliminary design.
When indoor antenna sites are built, you have the possibility to create the antenna files with Nemo
Handy´s BTS Editor. Optionally, serving cell or existing cell/antenna information can be used when
antennas are added. Also, macro network sites can be added. Testing of indoor antennas is crucial after
the installation to make sure that all antennas are transmitting properly and with correct signal strength.
Analysis of RF ingress shows how much the macro network is causing interference inside the building.
17
Outdoor measurements
Nemo Handy provides map support with an easy-to-use interface that includes zoom and pan tools. See
the measured route with color-coded parameter values in real-time on a live map and observe network
parameter values on the map. Outdoor route coloring is based on the selected parameter’s values, and
user-defined or pre-defined limits and color sets.
Nemo Handy offers an optional navigation application, a software-based solution in which a third-party
navigation application is used with Nemo Handy. The application provides you with turn-by-turn
instructions for your drive test campaigns, helping the field personnel to drive through places which they
are not familiar with. Repetitive drive tests can also be performed while ensuring that correct roads are
being measured. Nemo Cloud can be used to create and plan your measurement campaigns and routes.
Measurements can be remotely monitored in real time in Nemo Cloud, enabling you to react to alerts and
errors sent by the devices without delay. This feature requires Nemo Handy with the Nemo Cloud Work
Order option. Nemo Cloud is not mandatory though when creating routes as you can use any other
software that can produce a GPX file.
With Nemo Handy, you can view the base transceiver station (BTS) icons on a map. While performing
measurements, the BTS that the measurement device is connected to is highlighted with a user-defined
color. Furthermore, notification icons can be viewed on the route.
The map repository functionality in Nemo Handy enables you to select from which map repository the
map is downloaded.
All network parameters supported by the terminal’s mobile trace interface, including signaling messages,
are logged and made available for playback with Nemo Outdoor and for analysis and reporting with
Keysight’s Nemo post-processing tools.
18
HTML testing with real browser view
Nemo Handy enables HTML testing with real browser view. During HTML testing, you can monitor how
fast your web pages load. HTML testing is performed in an external Nemo Browser.
Forcing features
Nemo Handy supports band locking, LTE cell locking, system locking, scrambling code locking, carrier
locking (GERAN, UTRAN, EUTRAN), and Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) audio codec activation. The locks
are terminal specific. For more information, please check the device release notes for Nemo-specific
devices/firmware.
Notifications
Nemo Handy offers a set of audio notifications, notification icons, and pop-up messages that can notify
you of important measurement events. Customize the notifications to suit your measurement
requirements. Other notification features include individual notification activation/deactivation through the
Nemo Handy user interface and the notification history view screen.
Scripts
Expand your measurement capability with Nemo Handy by using script files to run measurements. When
a script is used, Nemo Handy makes voice and video calls, and FTP(S) and HTTP(S) data transfers
automatically. You can use scripts to automatically test HTML browsing, SMS messages, email send or
receive, external applications, and ping. Create conditional, system-triggered scripts with indefinite wait
periods that end when a specific system becomes active or when triggers initiate a voice call. With nested
scripts (scripts inside scripts) you can run complex automated measurements combining several scripts.
Create and edit scripts with Nemo Handy’s built-in script editor. If you activate the auto logging option,
when you start a script Nemo Handy will start logging automatically.
19
Playback
After a measurement ends, view measurement files immediately, or at a later time, easily with Nemo
Handy’s Playback feature. All data views are available for use in playback.
When the memory card is full, the log file recording feature automatically stops, and no more data can be
recorded. After logging has stopped, you can save the file with the default name, save the file with a new
name, or delete the file. You can also upload the log file to an FTP server directly from Nemo Handy. The
optional idle logging function enables logging outside actual measurement sessions.
After your measurement session, instantly produce a report in PDF format. View it on your measurement
device or send it via email to your office or client. Upload the report to any remote server along with the
measurement files for archive purposes or for more detailed analysis.
20
Centrally controlled testing with Nemo Cloud
Nemo Cloud is a one-stop-shop platform for centrally controlled network testing. It allows network
operators to remotely operate Nemo Outdoor, Nemo Handy, Nemo Walker Air, Nemo Active Probe, and
Nemo Industry Probe test units and check their status.
The location and status of field units, including the driver’s contact details, are tracked in Nemo Cloud.
Configuration settings can be shared to and between all measurement units within the same project quickly
and easily. Nemo Cloud supports all devices and test protocols currently supported with Nemo tools.
A single user can remotely monitor and manage numerous Nemo measurement kits in the field thus
eliminating the need for two technicians in a test vehicle.
Measurement sessions are created and scheduled in Nemo Cloud, and they can be assigned for
individual measurement units or to groups of units. Field unit hardware configurations and test device
details can be verified remotely to avoid failed drive tests caused by malfunctioning hardware. In addition,
hardware failures, incorrect scripts and other issues can be spotted, and corrective measures can be
taken immediately instead of at the end of a one- week test campaign. By reacting without delay, both
time and money can be saved.
For locally controlled Nemo tools, Nemo Cloud provides file and configuration sharing between
measurement units. This reduces work before the start of the measurement project in the field and
eliminates human errors in local measurement unit configuration.
Post-processing
Nemo Handy produces measurement files in Nemo file format (.nmf, .nmfs) so measurement files do not
need to be converted before post-processing. Measurement data can be exported from Nemo Handy
either by using a data cable or a memory card. A detailed description of the Nemo file format is included
on the product USB. The file format description contains all recorded events and their parameters.
21
Full Measurement Functionality with New
Commercial Smartphones
Nemo Diagnostic Module can be carried in a compact hip belt with a wired connection to the phone
The accelerated pace of new 5G smartphone launches creates the need to quickly test with new devices
in the network. Nemo Handy together with the external Nemo Diagnostic Module (NDM) enables full
measurement functionality with commercial off- the-shelf smartphones. No special firmware or rooting
is needed.
The measurement solution supports all Samsung and Qualcomm chipset-based phone models and is
reusable over new phone models, hence there are no additional costs when changing the phone. Up to
two Nemo Handy units can be connected to the NDM at the same time. Note that the external diagnostics
port (USB) must be enabled on the used phone model and a driver on the NDM HW needs to be available.
The license for voice quality testing using POLQA is associated with the NDM, therefore, the same
license can be used when changing the phone. Voice quality testing complies with ITU-T specified
recommendations for voice quality analysis of HD voice in 4G and 5G networks.
Voice quality testing is performed with the optional Nemo Intelligent Device Interface (NIDI). Both analog
and digital (Bluetooth) methods are supported.
