Temperature, Pressure, Flowrate Integrated Monitor User Manual

1 System introduction
Temperature, pressure, flowrate integrated monitor has a high-precision micro
differential pressure sensor or static pressure sensor, and is simultaneously equipped
with a purge unit. This integrated monitor is specially designed for the high dust
concentration, high temperature, and high humidity environmental condition, and is
compliance with applicable national requirements. It is usually combined in
continuous emission monitoring system to real-time monitor temperature, pressure,
and flowrate.
Pitot tube is traditional measurement instrument which is composed of pitot tube and
differential pressure sensor. For better using in the actual working condition, under the
condition of fitting every quality target, we change pitot structure to make it much
easier to install and maintain. Compared with other similar flow measurement device,
the cost of this pitot tube flowmeter is quite competitive. It also has unparalleled
advantages on performance, installation, maintenance, and good adaptability to
complicated field condition.

2 Measuring principle, features, and technical

specification
2.1 Measuring principle
Temperature, pressure, flowrate integrated monitor mainly includes micro differential
pressure transmitter, thermal resistance (thermal couple), pitot tube, purging solenoid
valve, temperature and pressure compensation, etc. Measuring principle: tradition
pitot tube measurement method is adopted as pressure-acquiring unit; after proper
installation, pressure-acquiring tube separately detect dynamic pressure and static
pressure and transfer to differential pressure transmitter which converter the
extracting of pressure difference to 4~20mA and then transfer to the data logger
module in distribution box. Data will be processed by the computer inside the cabinet.
The internal and external surface of pitot tube has been specially treated so as to
effectively avoid the corrosion of flue gas and dust adhesion. Purge solenoid valve is
mainly used for purging when measuring dirty gas (such as boiler flue gas emissions).
When the detection hole of sampling probe accumulates dust, purge solenoid valve
will start at fixed time or as pre-setting program. Compressed air will simultaneously

access to two pressure-acquiring tubes for purging. The solenoid valve will be in
off-state during normal measurement.

2.2 Features
 Realize real-time monitoring of flue gas temperature, pressure and flowrate via 3
× 4~20mA analog output.
 Auto-purge at fixed time to both dynamic pressure end and static pressure end of
pitot tube.
 High accuracy, good reliability and long-term continuous working
 Easy to install and wiring; low maintenance frequency

3 Equipment installation
3.1 Select installation point
Temperature, pressure, flowrate integrated monitor should try to be installed on the
straight tube where stable and even flue gas has.

3.2 Flange welding and embedding

Before installation, it needs to open a hole with 70mm diameter at selected flue pipe
and weld welding flange to the hole. Please save100mm space for wrench between
welding flange and flue pipe. Pay attention to the direction of flange as shown as
below.

Fig.3.1 Welding flange dimension

3.3 Instrument installation

Filed installation is based on the flow direction of flue gas. The dynamic side is
directly facing the gas flow direction and static side is opposite to flow direction.
Then butt the instrument to the installed flange with nuts and bolts.

3.4 Gas path connection

By the side of this integrated monitor, there is purge filter regulator which is used to
connect the external purging gas source.

3.5 Electrical connection

Accessed 220 VAC power cable and signal wire adopt crimping terminal. 3×4-20mA
signal wires all use shield wire to connect to distribution box. Specific wiring diagram
shows as 3.2 below.

Click to enter, shown as follows:

Three channels all output 4mA after clicking “Enter”. And all output 20mA if change
it to 20mA. That means output function is normal. If it is not normal, adjust the
potentiometer to change output chart.

5 Flowrate test
5.1 Commissioning requirements
Differential pressure transmitter is fixed and wiring is no problem. There is no
pressure difference at the high-pressure or low-pressure gas inlet of differential
pressure transmitter(can open the solenoid valve C, D).4-20mA testing is well.

5.2 Debugging method

(1) Normal output current of flowrate in air is around 4mA.
(2) If output current is not around 4mA, it needs to do zeroing for the instrument.
By “zero point” function in “Calibration” interface to adjust flowrate display
to 0 m/s which means output current is kept around 4mA.
(3) Start to purge gas inlets both at high pressure end and low pressure end.
Output current increases obviously if purge the high pressure end and
decreases if purge the low pressure end. That means differential pressure
transmitter has good performance.

6 Maintenance
6.1 Maintenance period
It is suggested that user should check the instrument after 3 days of installation and

13
Temperature, Pressure, Flowrate Integrated Monitor User Manual

check again after 30 days. If there is no problem, user can check it every 3 months.

6.2 Maintenance content

Check if power supply and gas source is normal;
Through the data on upper computer, check if flue gas temperature, pressure, flowrate
and etc. is in reasonable range. It can be simply judged based on field condition and
instrument operation condition.

7 Flue Flowrate calculation

Pitot tube flow-meter of this temperature, pressure, flowrate integrated monitor
provides user with standard (4~20mA) flowrate extraction proportion current output.
It needs to specially state that the flowrate (refer to formula 2) calculated from this
current is under the condition assuming measurement medium is air and gas condition
is in normal state (20℃,760mmHg). If user wants to get flowrate V value of the
medium under actual field condition, firstly user needs to use formula 3 to calculate
density compensation coefficient K1 and temperature and pressure compensation
coefficient K2; and then get final result by formula.
flue gas flowrate under field condition, V = K1 * K 2 *V0 (formula 1):
V————flue gas flowrate under field condition,unit: m / s
K1————density correction compensation coefficient
K2————temperature and pressure compensation coefficient
V0————actual flowrate of air in normal state (20℃, 760mmHg), unit: m / s

∆P ————actual pressure difference, unit: Pa
C————pitot tube instrument coefficient
ρ0 ———air density in normal condition (20 ℃ , 760mmHg), unit:

3

vmax ————flowrate measuring upper limit of pitot tube, unit: m / s
