Digital society and Netizen

We live in a digital society. Digitalization has


influenced every aspect of our lives. ‘Netizen’ is a
contraction of the words ‘internet’ and ‘citizen’. It
is someone who uses the internet to participate in
society. A responsible netizen must abide be
netiquette, communication etiquette and social
media etiquette.
Netiquette
“Internet Etiquette”
There is a code of behavior to be
followed on the internet, just as in
real life. Let's take a look at some
of the Do’s and Dont’s of the
internet.
Do’s
● Keep messages post and brief
● Proof read emails and posts
● You leave a digital footprint. Be
conscious of what you post
● Be discreet and protect
personal information
● Include subject lines in emails
● Obey copyright laws
● Stick to the topic
Don'ts!
● Don't post offensive
comments
● DON’T SHOUT. All caps is
considered shouting on the
net
● Do not troll or respond to
internet trolls
● Do not post embarassing
images or comments
● Don't use sarcasm as it
may be misinterpreted
● Do not violate copyright
laws. Make sure to use
citations
● Don't exclude people
● Don't spam people with
unnecessary mails or
messages.

We have many kinds of social


media platforms where we
consume and share media.
These platforms allow us to
share our thoughts and
experiences through posts.
In social media as well we have
certain rules to be followed…
