2. (a) Construct a multiplication (⨂) table for modulo 9 on the set T = {2,4,6,8}.
(b) Using the table;

(i) find the truth set of n⨂n = n − 6.


(ii) evaluate: (6 ⨂ 4)⨂(4 ⨂ 2)

3. (a) The scores obtained by 10 students in a test have the following statistics:

∑x = 290 and ∑x 2 =8469. Calculate the;


(i) mean (ii) variance
(b) The mean of 14 numbers is 19. If each of the numbers is increased by 4. What is the
new mean?

4. (a) If the area of an equilateral triangle is (53√3) cm2 . Find its perimeter and height.

5. (a) In amongst a group of people, there are some dogs. Twenty- two heads and Sixty-

8. (a) A salesman receives a basic monthly salary of Ghc 3,220.00. He also gets %

(b) Zedda invested Ghc x in a fixed deposit with an annual interest of 9% and Ghc 2x in
a mutual fund with an annual interest of 10%. If the total interest from the two investments at the
end of the year is Ghc2,320.00, how much was invested at each rate?
9. (a) A function h is defined by ℎ: 𝑥 → 𝑝𝑥 2 + 𝑞𝑥 − 2,where p and q are constants. If the
image of 1 is -6 and that of 3 is -12, find the values of p and q.

(b) The function 𝑔(𝑥) = (𝑥 + 1)(𝑥 − 1) is defined on the set of real numbers. Find
(i) g(− 4)

(ii) the values of x for which 𝑔(𝑥) = (5 − 𝑥)

10. (a) If tan y = 1, where 0° < 𝑦 < 90°, evaluate without using mathematical tables or

11. (a) Joan and Jane are sisters. Jean is Joan’s daughter, and 12 years younger than her aunt.
Joan is twice as old as Jean. Four years ago, Joan was the same age as Jane is now and Jane was
twice as old as her niece. How old is Jean.

(b) Araba purchased x number of apples for Ghc 48.00. She found out after a day that 40
of the apples were rotten and then sold all the remaining apples. If the selling price of one apple
was Ghc1.00 more than the cost price, find in terms of x,

(ii) an expression for the total amount that she received from the sale of the apples.

13. (a) Using a scale of 2cm to 2units on each axis, draw on a sheet of graph paper, two
perpendicular axes Ox and Oy for −10 ≤ x ≤ 10 and −12 ≤ y ≤ 12
(b) Draw on the same graph sheet, indicating clearly the co-ordinates of all vertices.
(i) the triangle KLM with vertices K (2,6), L (4,2), and M (8,6).
(ii) the image triangle K1 L1 M1 of triangle KLM under an anticlockwise rotation of 90°
about the origin where K → K1 , L → L1 , and M → M1 .
