RATIONALE:
In the light of modular-print learning delivery mode, it is inevitable there are students
in particular who are lagging on their academics. This is after understanding the learning
styles and individual differences of the students. It is also affected by the pacing of the
students in accomplishing their learning modules in considering different variables like home
responsibilities, labor, availability of references and resources and the like.
Dick and Carey (1996) defined instruction as a systematic process in which every
component (i.e teachers, students, materials and learning environment) is crucial to successful
learning. Instruction deals with how teachers assist students learn knowledge and move this
knowledge from short-term memory to long-term memory. The success of learning cannot be
separated from the role of an instructional model of learning implemented by teacher. The
instructional model guides the teachers about the step-by-step procedures to achieve the
objectives of learning and more specific outcome (Bin-Tahir, et al., 2017).
Hence, to cope with challenges in the pandemic education, teachers need to develop
instructional intervention or model to let them be effective in the delivery of effective lesson.
Intervention strategies are the systemic instructions to promote progress in an area where
there is a need for it. In education, intervention strategies were designed to improve academic
performance of students which have specific and measurable objectives. Garcia and Al-safadi
(2014) defined interventions as strategies that are based on the academic performance of
students and the monitoring of students’ progress are necessary. The purpose of intervention
strategies is to identify all factors that may improve students’ performance academically. The
kind of instructional interventions and strategies defined above will be assessed among the
language teachers.
Meanwhile, instructional model guides the teachers about the step-by-step learning
procedure to achieve the objectives of learning and more specific outcomes (Bin-Tahir,
2017). With this, teachers are required to have the sufficient competency-personal, social,
bridge and determine the success and failure of the learning process and achievement .
With this, there are courses of intervention activities that teachers conducted to at
least pacify the students on how they can accomplish their learning modules effectively and
efficiently. Synchronous home visitations were conducted by the teacher to deal with students
who had difficulties on a specific learning competency, had updates on their performance
tasks and their summative examinations and the like. Asynchronous home visitations were
conducted to students who were not submitting their modules and students who are nursing
mothers and even pregnant. Meanwhile, small group discussions were conducted to students
on their research undertakings and their performance tasks. There were parent-teacher
conferences conducted to make an update on how their children work on their modules and
the observed difficulties that they faced as their children accomplish their learning modules.
OBJECTIVES:
This program eyes to muster all the necessary intervention activities in support of the
effective and efficient delivery of the academic instruction. It also eyes to centralize the
intervention program of all the teachers to gather common ground to uplift the spirit of
teaching in the light of pandemic. Specifically, it eyes to:
ACTION PLAN
The school principal shall ask a monthly submission of report. Meanwhile, the school head will assign the program chair to submit all
necessary report asked by the district or division office relevant to intervention activities.
