11) Aim of the Module

To equip students’ with necessary skills to enable them to understand the basic structure of an
organization and the systems that need to be put in place in order to achieve its proper
management.
12) Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this Module, students should be able to:
a) Discuss the concept of management;
b) Explain basic structure of an organization, the organizational chart, the workings of an
organization, the process of organization and the basic functions of business;
c) Explain how an organization structure would affect the management of the organisation
d) Discuss the role of delegation and empowerment in the management of an organization.
e) Critique the role played by motivation to employee and organizational performance;
f) Explain the importance of planning in the management of an organization. ;
g) Discuss the effectiveness of various leadership styles to a modern manager;
h) Demonstrate an appropriate leadership style for a given business organization structure.
