James Akers - Romantic Guitars

The first release of this collection presents a selection of works -

including world première recordings - by three overlooked women

composers from the 19th century: Emilia Giuliani, Athénaïs

Paulian and Catharina Pratten.

If the conventional narrative of the guitar caused the neglect of

a great deal of music, the composers featured on this recording

suffered the added adversity of being women in a male dominated

world. They were overlooked by history, occasionally referenced,

footnoted as anolmalies but rarely championed or performed.

DONNE’s collection will also be featured on its dedicated

website, which will continue the champion women composers.

Programa de concierto dedicado al repertorio compuesto por
Mujeres Compositoras
La presencia de la mujer en el ámbito de las distintas disciplinas artísticas ha
estado silenciada, a lo largo de la historia, por evidentes cuestiones sociales
que no han favorecido su mayor o mejor difusión.
El largo proceso creativo o la necesaria reflexión estética no han sido siempre
cómodos asientos diarios a disposición de las mujeres con los que hayan
podido materializar su espíritu creativo. Más bien, al contrario. En la mayoría de
las ocasiones han tenido que redoblar su esfuerzo personal en favor de poder
expresarse artísticamente.
El programa de concierto “Sonidos de Mujer” nace con el fin de presentar y
prestigiar las excelentes virtudes de un repertorio histórico y contemporáneo
compuesto íntegramente por mujeres.
La Mujer es la dedicataria de este proyecto, la Guitarra, el instrumento que
articula este programa, Mujer y Guitarra o viceversa, dos protagonistas de un
mismo encuentro musical.
