    Minor/Open Elective

    Notice for 2nd Semester Students


    Dear Students,

    Please find the following,

    1. List of Minors and their Codes, subject, and subject codes. This list also includes names of the
    offering departments and per semester fees of the minor programs (for the next 3 Semester
    as minor program is of three semesters)
    2. This document also contains a list of open electives being offered in the even-semester (2024-25).

    Every eligible 2
    Semester student of (B.Tech.(all branches), BHM, BCA, B. Com,
    BBA, BA, BMLT, BMRIT, B.Sc N&D, Animation, UI, Journalism, PCM) has to choose any
    Minor program or any one open elective from the list (Check google form) if he has not chosen
    a minor program. The following rules will be applicable.

    (a) A student cannot choose an open elective/minor run by his parent department.
    (b) There are some open electives, which have additional costs. Details are given in the list.
    (c) University reserves the right to offer any open elective/minor program at any time, Normally
    University will run a course only if there are 15 or more registered students in the program.
    (d) Students have to study six subjects (2 in each semester) to complete the minor program
    (e) Students will study the three subjects (1 in each semester) for open elective
    (f) Students will get a Minor degree specialization in case of a Minor program only.

    3. Every eligible student can apply for minor/open elective in a Google form.
    4. By June 1, 2024, minor choice forms shall be filled up by the eligible students.
    5. In case students do not submit the form by the due date, Minor option will be closed for them and
    an Open Elective will be allotted by Academic Department as per availability.

    Rules of Choosing Minor Programs/ Open Electives Course


    1. The entire minors program will be run only approval of University Academic committee. which will be
    based on availability of resources, number of registration or any other valid reason.

    2. University reserves the rights to offer any or all of the minor courses listed at its sole discretion.

    3. As a rule, all the minors program and open electives course will be paid course unless the university
    decide otherwise or exempts certain courses.

    4. The cost of the course/programs may be subsidized by the university to the extent possible.

    5. Many minor programs may lead to international certification at additional cost, which may also be
    subsidized by the university to the extent possible.

    6. There will be six courses in each minor program. These all six course shall be opted for in semester
    two, three and four for three years programs and four, five and six in four year programs from one
    stream only or as may be offered by the concern department. Some industry oriented minors
    course may be run in summer semester.

    7. In open elective, the course may be opted from different stream as per student’s choice and availability
    in the published list of open elective course for the semester.

    8. The courses (both offered in minor and open elective) shall carry three credits each

    9. Every student has to opt open elective course in all three semester compulsorily. The choice has to
    make before the end of the previous semester in consultation with their mentor and approval of
    Minor coordinator/Dean Academic.

    10. The students desirous of opting minor need to consult the mentor before the end of previous

    fee (if any) and register the minor for the semester in which minor program is scheduled for
    him/her. The student has to opt for two courses in each semester as mentioned minor list. One
    course out of two opted and registered courses shall be considered as open elective for the
    semester.

    11. In no circumstances, the minor cannot be changed. If a student opted for minor continues the
    minor for a semester, appeared in both course examinations, declared pass and wants to withdraw
    minor in next semester then only one subject will be considered as open elective. He has to choose
    one another course as open elective in next semester.

    12. Award of the minor certification will be done only on completion of complete minor program.

    13. Standalone certification cannot be awarded. The student has to complete the major program for
    award of minor certification.

    14. One course in semester of minor will be part of major teaching scheme as open elective in the
    semester. Their credits will be added in grade calculation.

    15. All attendance and grade rules will be applicable on open electives and minor courses. Summer
    semester (in case of fail and DB grade) for minors and other normal course may be run in
    summers. During summer semester, hostel rule of additional charges and other exam related fees
    will be applicable on minor and open electives course like other courses.
