of inspiration, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. He has been the source
of my strength throughout the program and on his wings only I sored.
I would like to express my profound gratitude to my parent, MRS MURAINA
for her love, care and support both spiritually and financially, she loved me
more than I could possibly imagined. Thank you for always encouraging me,
you always make me feel safe and secure with you unconditionally love, thank

ABSTRACT
The research project on the influence of social media on economic growth in
the society, a case Study of Youth in Iwo Local Government seeks to find out the
impacts of social media among the people on behaviour change and also
recognizes that new interactive technologies have impacts on other age groups
outside the youth bracket.
The survey research design was adopted for this study, the choice of the design
was considered appropriate based on the objectives of the study. For this
research the sample size of 200 was used and a total of 200 well-structured
questionnaire containing 22 items were administered to the respondents but
only 188 were successfully completed and returned, this show that the response
rate was 95%. Chi-square statistic was used to test for the relevant hypothesis
and simple percentage was used to analyse the demographic data of the
respondents. Findings from the analyses, it was disclosed that social media has
the potential to positively influences the society when used in the right ways,
social media can reduce the challenges of traditional marketing and leads to
increased sales and also reading culture of the youth can be better with the
introduction of more educative pages on social media platforms that will enable
them to read and make worthy life decision. Furthermore, this study also
recommends that all aspiring youth who wants to excel through social media
should ensure that they derail from focus, since their endless potential on social
media then any youth who wishes to excel using social media should show high
levels of seriousness and seal.
