Writing Task 1:
1. Each criterion is assessed separately.
2. The finalized Writing Task 1 scores are calculated as follows:

- Step 1: Raw Writing Task 1 score = (TA + CC + LR + GR)/4

- Step 2: Finalized Writing Task 1 scores are rounded down to .5 or .0 as detailed below.
- E.g. Given the detailed scoring as: 6-7-7-7, the average score is 6.75 ->
Rounded down to 6.5
- E.g. Given the detailed scoring as: 6-6-6-7, the average score is 6.25 ->
Rounded down to 6.0

Writing Task 2:
1. Each criterion is assessed separately.
2. The finalized Writing Task 2 scores are calculated as follows:

- Step 1: Raw Writing Task 1 score = (TA + CC + LR + GR)/4

- Step 2: Finalized Writing Task 1 scores are rounded down to .5 or .0 as detailed below.
- E.g. Given the detailed scoring as: 6-7-7-7, the average score is 6.75 ->
Rounded down to 6.5
- E.g. Given the detailed scoring as: 6-6-6-7, the average score is 6.25 ->
Rounded down to 6.0

Writing Overall Band scores:

Raw Writing score = (Task 1 + Task 2 x 2) / 3

Finalize the Raw Writing Score as follows:

Round up to .0 if RWS > .74, otherwise round down to .5
Round up to .5 if RWS > .24, otherwise round down to .0

E.g.
(1) 5.16667 -> 5.0
(2) 5.33333 -> 5.5
(3) 5.66667 -> 5.5
(4) 5.83333 -> 6.0

Overall band score

The overall band score is the average of the four sections scores, rounded to the nearest
whole or half band. The sections scores are weighted equally.

If the average of the four sections ends in .25, the overall band score is rounded up to the
next half band, and if it ends in .75, the overall band score is rounded up to the next whole
band.
