HOT TO TROT?
Graham ‘Still Here’ Morecroft ello and a warm welcome to edition 142 of VWt magazine. Cor,
what a weird month. The weather’s been feckin’ awful hasn’t it? Still,
– Art Editor
who knows, by the time you read this we’ll probably be enjoying a
graham.morecroft@kelsey.co.uk heatwave given all that global warming malarkey. Right now though I
Instagram: @initial_9 am sitting in the VWt office fully togged up in a bobble hat and coat
because it’s just so cold and I am too much of a skinflint to turn on the electric
fire. In fact, the only time I really get warm is when it’s my turn to do the school
run – the heaters in my T25 are ruthlessly efficient, especially with the blower on
full chat and the hot air directed onto my ice-cold feet. Hell, who cares about
the chilblains?
Anyway, I am not the only one who’s had to brave the chilly and wet January
conditions because VWt’s loyal band of photographers and writers have been
busy, too, arranging photoshoots and calling up owners to get their stories.

sarah@talk-media.uk Meanwhile, I’ve booked my ferry ticket back to Blighty for the rapidly ap-
01732 446756 proaching VolksWorld Plus Show on March 16-17. I am travelling over in my
’86 Westfalia, so wish me luck. It’s still a bit smoky at startup, so I hope they
load me with the lorries so I don’t get anyone whinging at me for driving
something so old. We’ll have a cracking display of modern Vans on the Green
Lawn outside, along with lots of awnings and other accessories for you to con-
sider for your next camping trip. If you haven’t got tickets already, get yourself
along to volksworldshows.com and I’ll see you there.

cabs in our time, but this T5 must be one of
the most radical we’ve seen yet. Thanks to
that Acid Green paintwork and the addition
of a panoramic roof, the first thing you notice
is how incredibly bright it is inside, but that’s
only for starters. The bucket seats and Luke

While on the face of it, this T5 may

Luke has done his best to keep within
a sensible budget. “Fortunately I’m

T5-T6.1 DETACHABLE REAR BUMPER PROTECTOR FLAP

If you’re forever loading stuff into the rear of your Transporter, this is a must.
Especially when the weather’s yukky. Made from a PVC-coated polyester making
it resistant to rips and tears, it will protect your bumper against scratches, scrapes,
muddy bike tyres and your hound’s claw marks. Talking of which, being less slippery
than your shiny, painted bumper it will give your mutt the extra confidence they
often need jumping in and out of your boot.
So, how does it work? Well, it’s quick and easy to attach via hidden Velcro, which
is easily installed underneath the rear threshold strip once you’ve undone a few
screws. Five minutes at the most, then, we’d say.
It’s available in black, grey, navy and olive and fits T5-T6.1 Transporters with the

Causeway coast, Northern Ireland

If you’ve ever played Connect 4, you’ll feel right at home when you arrive at the Giant’s
Causeway where you will see roughly 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns – the result
of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. Legend has it that it was once home to a giant
called Finn McCool who, when threatened by Scottish giant Benandonner, ripped
up chunks of the Antrim coast and chucked them into the sea. Either way, it’s an
unmissable demonstration of natural beauty and the rest of the Causeway coast is just
as breathtaking. The National Trust run the visitor centre.

ADAM DYOSS, T6.1 STARTLINE

Hi VWt, my Van started life as a
Panel Van which I collected from
VW Liverpool. The transformation
started pretty much straight away with
the first set of coilovers and wheels
which my mate, James, from Custom
Transporters helped me source, and
the THQ black LED headlights.
Having previously converted my
Caddy, I got in touch with Nathan
at Van Lab Custom Conversions in
Lichfield and he managed to squeeze
me in for the camper conversion and
they did a top job as always.
The black suede trim in the cab was
carried out by AJ Retrims in Netherton.
Again, I have used him loads of times
and always get a bang on job and
excellent service.
The Van is now on SoLows which I
obtained from James from Custom
Transporters Ltd and Chris at Cals
Campers & Vans fitted them to get
the setup just right. The Van is sitting
down as much as it can right now until

then can be put all the way down. It
is rolling on on 20in Navis Holey grey
steel rims.
The futhest I’ve been in the Van so
far is to Cornwall but I am hoping to
make lots of longer journeys in 2024.
My hobby is detailing and valeting
cars/vans and I also do it as a full-time
job at an Audi dealer. I love going to
shows and meeting new people and
getting involved with groups.
The one thing the Van’s lacking is
power so I am waiting for someone to
break the Bosch ECU and then get it
remapped. Hopefully, that will make
it more economical and better at
overtaking, ha ha! Other than that, it’s
pretty much how I want it. t
