Outdoor/indoor main cabling laying and routing drawings in addition to shop drawings
before starting the work and as built drawings shall be submitted.
DOCUMENTATION: All documentation required shall be in english. The
documentation shall include the technical description of the tendered system,
operating instructions and service manuals for maintenance. The contractor shall
submit work programme schedule for all phases of work including the training
schedules and period proposed. The contractor shall submit handbooks covering all
facilities and equipment , in printed books of all texts, charts, tables of materials,
schematic diagram, block diagram and other data required by the engineer to
facilitate understanding the general theory of equipment operation and preventive
maintenance. All handbooks shall be delivered in binders suitable for heavy usage.
The handbook title , volume no, book no, shall be printed on the spine. Major section
of the book shall be seperated and tabbed by numbers or letters dividers. The
enginerr shall have the right for comments, modification or addition to these books
with no extra charge to the clients.

TESTING AND COMMISSIONING: The acceptance test shall be carried out by the
contractor and witnessed by the client representative. The contractor shall provide
atleast 14 days of notice of the date of commecement of the test. All the test
personnel shall be vendor certified personnel. The serial number of test equipment
provided by the contractor to be noted prior the test, where possible the same test
equipment to be used throughout the project. The test equipment should have
calibration certificate less than a year old and leads shall be changed after the
number of tests specified by the manufacturer.During the testing procedure the
contractor has to verify that each cable and outlet has permanent label. The
contractor shall issue fully detailed method statement for procedures to be followed
for all test. The methods statement shall be submitted for approval two weeks atleast
before the commencement of test. All the installation shall be tested 100% and the
test data must be reviewed and approve by the manufacturer before any warranty
certificate is issued. The network must be covered by a manufacturer 25 years
product and application warranty, installed by an installer accredited and trained by
manufacturer. The proof of training which must be less than 2 years old shall be
submitted. The contractor shall create a printed schedule for each cable in building
with appropriate coloumns for each test result and comments. The test shall be
conducted on site, recorded with date of test and signedby an authorized signatoryas
being true record of the test carried out.Failure and fault detected during test shall be
recorded, demaged cables shall be replaced with new onein complete runs because
no cable joints shall be acceptable. The contractor shall take into account the
transmission requirements of emerging application such as 10 Gbps Ethernet
including ATM services of 1.3 G.B per second are supported by generic cabling
specified in international standard of IEC/ISO 11801 and EN 50173 European
equivalent. This is contractor responsibility to ensure that each nominated cable link is
warranted to meet IEC/ISO 11801 class E link attenuation, Near end cross talk, and
attenuation to cross talk ratio specification. All permanent link must be tested to IEC
61935 with a level III cable tester and Cat 6 generic interface must be used on the
tester. The cable length, impedance, attenuation to crosstalk ratio (ACR) ,near end
cross talk, shall be measured to comply with the specified requirements in IEC/ISO
11801 and EN50173 transmission requirements using test instruments. For each
copper/ fiber link test result document shall be provided by the contractor. The cable
tester which shall be used to test and certify the cabling system shall meet the
requirements of EIA/TIA TSB 67 level II and must test the cable from both ends and
at the link at frequencies up-to 250 MHz. The fiber cable shall be tested with an
OTDR before and after laying to verify the attenuation parameters and continuity of
fiber. The test result along with an OTDR printout should be submitted to engineer or
client representative. The following are test parameters.
Fiber type Wavelength Cable attenuation coeff loss/connector loss/splice
50/125 850 3.75dB/km 0.75dB 0.3 dB
50/125 1300 1.5 dB/km 0.75dB 0.3 dB
After termination or spicing of fiber link, this should be tested from end to end. The
power loss should be less than power budget calculated.
The test equipments Power meter, Return loss measurement test sets and Optical
Time Domain Reflectometer(OTDR) with test leads shall be kept on site. The test
equipments shall comploy with BS 7718 or equivalent and shall be tested and
calibrated and accompanied by valid calibration certificateless than one year old
before delivery to site.
TRAINING: Training shall be provided to enable the client staff to take over the
operation and maintenance of the system in shortest possible time. The contractor
shall submit a training programme which shall include theortical and practical training.
The training shall cover both hardware and software installation.
SPARE PARTS: The contractor shall include in his offer the list of spares required for
two years. Final acceptance of the spare parts list is subject to engineer approval, and
approved parts shall be delivered before provisional handing over.
The special tools such as special keys, special screw drivers, tununng and
adjustment tools shall be supplied in addition to spares..
WARRANTY: The contractor warrants to maintain, repair or replace and make good
at his own expenses during period of 25 years from the date of acceptance certificate
any part of equipment, materials of work performed or furnished under this contract
which may prove defective in erection, installation, operation, performance and
workmanship. The contractor shall obtain a 25 twenty five years extended product
warranty and application assurance certificate from respective manufacturer of
selected materials. This warranty shall ensure against product defects for all cabling
system and its components and assurance of supporting the system for which it is
designed. The performance warranty requirements guarantee that cabling system
composed of category 6 plus components meet certain values for attenuation ,near
end cross talk (ACR), as per the latest specification of category 6 plus/class E,
IEC/ISO 11801 and TIA/EIA standards. The performance warranty shall cover the
complete network system of the project. This is contractor responsibility to arrange for
all consumables required for warranty period at his own cost. All the components
used in the system shall be from a single manufacturer.
