    THIRD YEAR SECOND SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS

    DCC 208: CONTEMPORARY MORAL ISSUES

    ANSWER THREE QUESTIONS. QUESTION ONE IS COMPULSORY.

    1. The state of morality in our country especially among the youth is rather low,
    and it is becoming a major concern for parents, religious leaders and
    educationists that the moral fibre of our society is slowly giving way to a
    moral breakdown.

    a) What in your view are the possible causes of this problem?( 9 marks)
    b) Suggest possible ways of reversing the above problem ( 9 marks).
    c) What are some of the indicators of a moral breakdown in a society?
    ( 5 marks )

    2. Women as autonomous and responsible individuals should be free to enter


    legally binding surrogacy contracts. Discuss. ( 23 marks)

    3. Discuss the contention that society has an obligation to adopt Affirmative


    Action strategies in order to compensate women for the past injustices they
    have been subjected to by men. ( 23 marks)

    4. The rising level of drug abuse and alcoholism in the country especially among
    the youths has far reaching moral implications. Discuss. ( 23 Marks)

    5. a) What are Human Rights? ( 5 marks)


    b) Identify and explain any four inalienable Human Rights. (9 marks)
    c) For each of the above Rights identify any cases in your country where they
    have been violated. ( 9 marks)

    6. a) What is Environmental Ethics? ( 5 marks)


    b) Identify and explain values and practices in our societies which you think
    are inimical to Environmental conservation.( 18 marks)
