BYK-1681
Silicone-free defoamer with substrate-wetting properties for reducing the air void content
and improving the penetration depth of high-alkaline building material formulations
into the substrate.

Product Data

Composition Silicone-free
Alcohol alkoxylate

Typical Properties
The values indicated in this data sheet describe typical properties and do not constitute specification limits.

Appearance: Clear liquid

Active substance: 100 %
Density (20 °C): 0.97 g/ml

Storage and Transportation

Turbidity or separation may occur during storage or transportation at temperatures below 10 °C.

Applications

Construction Chemical Products

Special Features and Benefits

BYK-1681 significantly reduces the air void content in mineral-bound building material formulations.
BYK-1681 also reduces the dynamic surface tension and therefore improves substrate wetting.
In concrete additives such as PCE-based formulations, it can reduce or even prevent possible foam formation.

Recommended Use
Particularly suitable for high-alkaline building material formulations for:
• Defoaming mineral-bound formulations,
• Reducing the foam formation tendency of plasticizers,
• Improving substrate wetting by reducing the surface tension
of silicate building material formulations.

Recommended Levels
0.2-1 % additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation.

The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series
of laboratory tests.

Incorporation and Processing Instructions

BYK-1681 is usually added at the beginning of the production process, but it can also be post-added.
