    In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Kerala Public
    Services Act, 1968 (19 of 1968), read with section 3 thereof, the Government of Kerala hereby
    make the following rules further to amend the Kerala State and Subordinate Services Rules,
    1958, namely:—

    RULES

    1. Short title and commencement. ___ (1) These rules may be called the Kerala State and

    Subordinate Services (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2024.


    (2) They shall come into force at once.

    2. Amendment of the Rules. __ In Part I of the Kerala State and Subordinate Services Rules,

    1958, in clause (6) of rule 2, for sub-clause (g), the following shall be substituted namely:__

    "(g) when he/she is on paternity leave or maternity leave, or on leave as per Rules 101
    and 101A of Part I, Kerala Service Rules granted to female officers in cases of miscarriage or
    abortion or hysterectomy.

    Note :- Cases already settled or disposed prior to the issue of this amendment shall not be
    reopened "

    Explanatory Note

    (This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general
    purport.)

    Government have decided to reckon the period of paternity leave, leave granted under
    rule 101 and 101A of Part I of the Kerala Service Rules as duty for the purpose of probation and
    to make suitable amendments to the relevant rules in the Kerala State and Subordinate Services
    Rules.
    This notification is intended to achieve the above object.
