Fostering Start-up Ecosystem for
Commercialization of Hydrogen Technologies
Commemorating
National Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Day |10∙08

on
8th October, 2024
Centre for Fuel Cell Technology
International Advanced Research Centre for Powder
Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI)
An Autonomous R&D Centre of Dept. of Science & Technology, Government of India
Venue : Raman Hall, E-Block, IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai

ABOUT CENTRE FOR FUEL CELL TECHNOLOGY (CFCT), ARCI
CFCT, one of India's premier centres, is working on developing Polymer
Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC). The Centre has been at the
forefront of PEMFC development in the country. During its last fifteen years of
technological expedition, the centre has demonstrated PEMFC power packs
with the required balance of systems for stationary applications as well as in
electric vehicles as range extenders. In addition to the PEMFC development,
as part of the hydrogen technology development, the centre has developed
technology for hydrogen generation and materials for hydrogen storage.
The centre also endeavours to use the materials developed for fuel cells in
other electrochemical and energy storage devices like batteries and
supercapacitors. The centre has developed more than 15 know-how
processes for technology commercialization with more than 27 patents filed
and over 240 research papers published in various international
journals/conferences. One of the mandates of the centre is to include
industries in its development for eventual commercialization. Knowledge
dissemination and human resource development are also a part of the
centre’s objective.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This workshop is conducted to commemorate “National Hydrogen and Fuel
Cell Day” which was created to raise awareness of a clean energy
technology based on Hydrogen. October 8th (10.08) was chosen as a
National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day in reference to its atomic weight (1.008
amu).
Hydrogen Fuel Cell technologies are among the various pathways that could
pave way to deploy renewable energy sources for all the energy related
applications with CO2-free energy cycles. The aim and objective of this
workshop is to encourage, develop and promote hydrogen energy and fuel
cell and its applications in the country.
