NATIONAL ARTIST OF
THE PHILIPPINES
Do You Know That Arts And Culture
Are Very Much Renowned In The
Philippines? This Event, Also Known
As The National Arts Month, Happens
Every February. It Is An Annual
Occasion Which Started After The
Former President Corazon Aquino
Signed The Presidential Proclamation
683 In 1991.
Since then, the National Commission for Culture and the
Arts (NCCA), together with private and public agencies,
has been organizing this month-long event.

Hence, the NCCA through Subcommission on the Arts


(SCA) heads this year’s Ani ng Sining: Philippine Arts
Festival. It shows a series of events in different places all
over the country. Specifically, these events highlight the
SCA’s 7 local boards and arts which include:
•Architecture and Allied Arts
•Cinema
•Dance
•Dramatic Arts
•Literary Arts
•Music
•Visual Arts
•Music

Jose Maceda, composer,


musicologist, teacher and
performer, explored the
musicality of the Filipino
deeply. Maceda embarked on a
life-long dedication to the
understanding and
popularization of Filipino
traditional music.
•Painting

He was recognized as such for


his "pioneering use of
impressionistic technique" as
well as his skill in the use of
lighting and backlighting in his
paintings, "significant not only
in the development of
Philippine art but also in the
formation of Filipino notions of
self and identity."[4]
•Literature
Amado Vera
Hernandez (September 13,
1903 – March 24, 1970), was
a Filipino writer and labor
leader who was known for his
criticism of social injustices in
the Philippines and was later
imprisoned for his involvement
in the communist movement.
He was the central figure in a
landmark legal case that took
13 years to settle.
•Achitecture
Juan Felipe de Jesús
Nakpil, KGCR (born Juan
Felipe Nakpil y de Jesús; May
26, 1899 – May 7, 1986) known
as Juan Nakpil, was
a Filipino architect, teacher and
a community leader. In 1973,
he was named one of
the National Artists for
architecture.[2] He was
regarded as the Dean of
Filipino Architects.
•Sculpture
Napoleon Abueva
Recognized as the “Father of Modern
Philippine Sculpture”, Abueva helped
shape the local sculpture scene to what
it is now. He used almost all kinds of
materials for his sculptures such as
hard wood, adobe, metal, stainless
steel, cement, marble, bronze, iron,
alabaster, coral and brass.
