Kalsarpa Yoga

When all the planets in a horoscope assemble at one end of

Rahu and Ketu, then Kalsarpa Yoga is formed. Rahu and Ketu always
move in a retrograde manner. As such after transit they come back to
the zodiac behind the zodiac from where they had started.

In complete ( total ) Kalsarpa Yoga all the planets are positioned

at one end of Rahu-Ketu. If Moon has stepped out of the periphery
of Rahu-Ketu then it is known as partial Kalsarpa Yoga. This partial
Kalsarpa Yoga also gives normal bad effect to the native.
Rahu is considered as the head and Ketu the tail in Kalsarpa

Yoga. If all the planets are situated on one side of Rahu and Ketu
during time of birth so that Rahu’s travel during transit affects all of
them in the next few years, then total Kalsarpa yoga is caused. If,
after birth, Rahu’s transit does not afflict any other planet, then
Kalsarpa Yoga is not created, even if all then planets are situated on
one side of Rahu and Ketu. Rahu and Ketu always traverse

retrograding various types of Kalsarpa Yoga are formed according

to Rahu’s placement in a particular house is the horoscope.
In the following horoscope Ketu is in the seventh house and

Rahu is in ascendant. Rahu is situated in ascendant and Ketu is in
seventh house and Sun, Moon and all other planets are on one side
of Rahu and Ketu. In this situation Rahu’s transit will start fro
ascendant and transit over Sun and other seven planets in the next
seven years after birth. Hence total Kalsarpa Yoga is formed.

In the following horoscope also Rahu is in the ascendant and Ketu

in the seventh house. After birth Rahu’s transit will start from ascendant
and go through twelfth, eleventh, tenth, ninth, eighth, and will ultimately
enter the seventh house. And no planet is present in these houses Rahu
will not affect or seize any planet for next few years after native’s birth.
Hence in spite of the placement of Sun, Moon and all other planets on
one side of Rahu-Ketu, Kalsarpa Yoga will not be formed.

Karkotic Kalsarpa Yoga
When Rahu is in ascendant, Ketu in the seventh house and all

the remaining planets are stationed from the seventh to ascendant,
the Karkotic Kalsarpa Yoga is generated.

Karkotic Kalsarpa Yoga affects native’s health, his standard of

living, profession and personality.
Bad results of Karkotic Kalsarpa Yoga are felt by the native at

the time of birth and after 18th year of life.
Due to Karkotic Kalsarpa Yoga the native’s marital happiness is

medium. He is short tempered, proud and selfish and this is the
reason why he is unable to coordinate with his wife.

Shankhnada Kalsarpa Yoga

If Rahu is in the second and Ketu in the eighth house and other
planets are residing between eighth to second house then Shankhnada

Kalsarpa Yoga is formed. Its effect is experienced by the native

during Rahu’s Mahadasha or Antardasha. Shankhnada Kalsarpa affects
the family of the native his accumulated wealth. Due to the effect of
Shankhanda Kalsarpa Yoga the native’s speech and eating habits may
get tainted. He may suffer from loss of ancestral wealth and property.
Disputes with family members arise and native is compelled to struggle
in financial matters.
Shankhnada Kalsarpa Yoga affects native’s speech, ancestral

and accumulated property.
Because of the effect of Shakhnada Kalsarpa Yoga the native

starts eating meat etc. and become slave of alcohol and this destroys
his married life. Such native keep themselves away from their families.
If Shakhanada Kalsarpa Yoga, if the lord of seventh house is

situated with Rahu in second house then native’s marital happiness

Pataka Kalsarpa Yoga
If Rahu is occupying third house and Ketu is in the ninth house

and other planets are stationed between ninth to third houses then
Pataka Kalsarpa Yoga is born. In a horoscope with Pataka Kalsarpa
Yoga, if Rahu’s Mahadasha or Antardasha comes into play during
the native’s youth then he experiences its inauspicious effects. This
Kalsarpa Yoga especially affects the valour of the native. Pataka
Kalsarpa also influences native’s brothers and his relations with them.
Due to its effect native becomes
careless. Unexpected obstacles arise in his path. His travels are
also generally unsuccessful.

Vishakta Kalsarpa Yoga
When Rahu is in the fourth and Ketu in the tenth house and
other planets are between third to tenth houses, then Vushakta
Kalsarpa Yoga is created.

Due to Vishakta Kalsarpa Yoga native’s family life is disturbed.

This Kalsarpa Yoga also adversely affects vehicle, property, respect
and mental peace of native.
Effect of Vishakta Kalsarpa Yoga comes in the fourth year of a

native’s life or after his marriage. It particularly affects native’s esteem,
respect and his mother. Vishakta Kalsarpa is very effective on family
life, building and vehicles related happiness. Native suffers in his life
due to this Kalsarpa Yoga. Happiness and caring of mother’s afflation
is lessened in native’s life. Such a native does not stay at one place
permanently. His thoughts get fouled and he never gets mental peace

Sheshnaga Kalsarpa Yoga
Sheshanga Kalsarpa Yoga is formed when Rahu is in the fifth

and Ketu is in the eleventh house while the other planets occupy
houses from eleventh to fifth.

Sheshnaga Kalsarpa Yoga especially affects native in his youth

when Rahu Mahadasha or Anterdasha is more pronounced on native’s
knowledge, studies and children.
Due to the effect of Sheshnaga Kalsrpa Yoga, native is cheated

and he continuously wanders aimlessly.
If there is conjunction of Rahu in fifth house with the lord of

This Kalsarpa Yoga starts showing its effects right from birth of
the native. He keeps ill due to undiagnosed sickness. Disease, enemies
and debt are the three main effects of Vasuki Kalsarpa Yoga. It keeps
the native indisposed. He becomes addict of dopes and drugs.
Because of bad company he gets involved in disputes. By taking
care of birds and four legged beasts the bad effect of Vasuki Kalsarpa
can be reduced.
Due to combination of Rahu in sixth house and the lord of the seventh
house, the native’s wife is generally ill. He frequently argues with her

because of his unethical activities. Such a native must keep his
in-laws happy.

When Rahu is in the eighth and Ketu in the second house and
other planets are between Rahu and Ketu from eighth house to second
house, then Kulika Kalsarpa Yoga is created.

Effect of Kulika Kalsarpa Yoga is normally felt during childhood.

Because of Rahu’s Mahadasha or Antardasha, Kulik Kalsarpa shows
its effect when such a natvie in full-grown or elderly. This Kalsarpa
Yoga is effective in matters of age and sudden loss or profit.
The native with such Yoga in his horoscope may also have sudden
physical pain, accident, injury etc due to Kulika Kalsarpa Yoga. There
is no stability in the native’s life and he has to go to places.
If there is conjunction of Rahu sitting in the eighth house with

the lord of seventh house then the native has to face a number of
problems. His life in other words is topsy- turvy.

When Rahu is in the ninth and Ketu in the third house and all
other planets are stationed in houses between third house of Ketu of
ninth or Rahu, then Mahapadma Kalsarpa Yoga is created.
This type of Kalsarpa Yoga is responsible for the father multiple

problems to native’s after the birth of native.

affected. These effects can be noticed on father, grandson, religion,
duty and the happiness one gets from sons and grand children. The
native fails to complete his assignment due to some reasons.

and he is not able to fulfill his duties. He earns bad-repute because he
starts treading on undignified tracks. Misfortune hits many

If Rahu is in the tenth house, Ketu in th fourth and other planets

are situated from fourth to tenth house i.e. between Rahu and Ketu,
then Takshaka Kalsarpa Yoga is formed.

trouble to the family members or the father. During youth and
advanced age whenever Rahu’s Mahadasha or Antardasha comes
the native faces special bad effects.

Effect of Takshak Yoga is more pronounced on native’s

livelihood, respect, reputation and state related matters.
Native has to struggle in the area of his livelihood and he gets
involved in unholy acts.
When Rahu in tenth house combines with the lord of the seventh
house then native’s reputation takes a downward plunge. Obstacles
rise in his field of work. His life partner is adamant and impractical
and this spoils his life.
Because Rahu is occupying the tenth house, the native gets

and sisters and his ambitions.
Ananta Kalsarpa Yoga formed by the eleventh house creates

obstructions in the native’s earnings. His ambitions are not fulfilled
and he has to face separation from his relatives and friends. Hs is
deprived of elder brother’s affection.
As Rahu in eleventh house unites with the lord of the seventh

house, the native keeps himself busy with his friends and hence his
married life is affected. He is so pre-occupied in his work that he
looses interest in his life-partner. This result in tension in native’s
married life.

Due to the effect of Shankhpala Kalsarpa Yoga the native spends

money in immoral activities. He is made to live in other lands full of
deficiencies. He has to live under others. Unexpected expenses are
common to native.
When Rahu in twelfth house is in conjunction with the lord of

the seventh house the native ruins his married life by indulging in bad

life. He should avoid to under take risky jobs as far as possible. He
would do well not to hurt anyone. If a native has Kalsarpa Yoga in his
horoscope then he should perform his duties diligently which will
weaken the bad effects of Kalsarpa Yoga. The house in the horoscope,
which is building Kalsarpa Yoga, the native must have respect for
people related to that house. He should not do anything which may
hurt him. If Kalsarpa Yoga is formed it might also give auspicious
results, then the native achieves tremendous success during the Dasha
of Rahu.

Mars is the valour of Kalpurusha and the commander among

nine planets. This influential planet occupies fourth place in the
cosmos. Mars is masculine and full of life force. Its rays too produce
excitement and aggression. Mars directly affects head, lungs, brain,
blood and cells.

groups are matched.
Mars itself is an evil planet and is also a representative of all evil

planets. Cruel planets Sun, wicked planet Saturn and Rahu-Ketu are
also evil planets. Not only that Mercury also gives evil effects when it
is in company of the evil planets. However, in their respective places
these planets reduce, balance, diminish or wipe out the faults of Mars.
If evil planets are equal then the marriage will be successful and long
lasting. The natives become wealthy and happy. If there is irregularity
then fear, immense problem, sorrow, pain or death will loom large on
the native.
If Mars is present in ascendant, fourth, seventh, eighth or twelfth

houses then the native will be called as Mangalik ( either sex ).
If in a male’s horoscope, Mars is situated in ascendant then he

is called as Paaga Manglik while Mars situated in ascendant in feale
horoscope then she would be called as Manga Manglik. Paaga and
Manga Manglik are known to be inauspicious, harmful and might
cause of death for each other through accident by vehicle.

makes the native sick. It also puts inauspicious influence on fourth (
house of happiness), seventh ( house of wife ) and eighth ( house of

1. Due to effect of Manglik Yoga, there will be delay in the

native’s marriage.

yet he has to carry on with his wife can also be one
such effects of this Yoga.

torture and ultimately separation of the two.
4. Native spends his married life peacefully with his wife

but this phase is short-lived.

Kuldevta and Kuldevi Dosh

Ashlesha Constellation
When the boy or the girl is born in the later 3 phases (except
first phase) of Ashlesha Constellation then after marriage his or her
mother-in-law dies. This applies only to the real mother-in-law. First
phase is auspicious for mother-in-law.
Moola Constellation
If the boy or the girl was born in any of the first three phases of
Moola Constellation, then father-in-law dies after marriage.
Jyeshtha Constellation
A girl born in Jyeshtha Constellation is inauspicious for elder
brother of her prospective husband. As such a girl born in Jyeshtha
Constellation must be married to the eldest brother only.
Vishakha Constellation
Fourth phase of Vishakha Constellation is harmful for the younger
brother of the girl’s husband. Other three phase are however auspicious.
Vyatipat Yoga
If a native is born in Vyatipat Yoga then native is likely to lose a

Vaidhrati Yoga
If a native is born in the Vaidhrati Yoga then it is inauspicious
for the father of native.
Paridhi Yoga
Native born in Paridhi Yoga is harmful for himself.
Other Yogas
Mrityu Yoga, dagdha Yoga, bhadra, Sankranti ( day when Sun enters
into other zodiac sign from its previous one ) time of solar or lunar eclipse,
Kshaya month, etc. at the time of birth are all considered inauspicious.
Same Constellation
If a son is born in the same birth Constellation as that of father
then in is inauspicious. This can be dangerous to either father or the
son. Similarly if brothers or sisters are born in the same constellation
as that of the mother then this too is inauspicious.
Trikhal Birth Fault

When a Son is born after three daughters or a girl after three
sons then it is called Trikhal dosha and is inauspicious. Birth of a son
is indicative of fear, sickness and loss of wealth to the father. If a girl
is born the same applies to the mother.

There is a common proactive of getting the horoscope of the

boy and the girl failed by an expert. In tallying the horoscope mutual
tara, yoni, graha maitri, gana, bhakoot and Nadi dosha are considered.
Gana Dosha
In astrology individuals have been divided into 3 ganas i.e. Devta
(God), Manushya (Human) or Rakshasa (Demon). Determination of
one’s gana is dependent on one’s birth constellation. Those who are
born in Ashwini, Mrigshira, Punarvasu, Pshya, Hasta, Swati,
Anuradha, Sharavana and Rewati constellation have Devta (God) as
their gana. Natives born in Bharani, Rohini, Ardra, Purva Phalguni,
Purvashadha, Uttarashadha, Purvabhadrapada and Uttaradhadrapada
constellation have Manushya ( Human ) gana. And those who are
born in Kritika, Ashlesha, Magha, Chitra, Vishakha, Jyeshtha, Moola,
Ghanishtha and Shatbhisha constellation belong to the category or
Rakshasa ( Demon ) gana.
While matching horoscope of groom and bride there should

not be gana dosha. Out of 36 qualities, gana contributes to 6. if the
boy and the girl both belong to Devta gana then they get maximum 6
marks. If they are both of Manushya and Rakshasa gana then also

they get 6 marks. If boy is of Manushya gana and the girl of Devta
gana then they get 5 marks. If boy is of Rakshasa gana and the girl’s
gana is Devta then they get 1 mark. If girl is of Manushya gana and
the boy of Rakshasa gana then their qualities do not tally with each
other and the get 0 marks. Like if girl and boy are respectively of
Rakshasa and Devta gana, then too marking will be 0.
