Traffic Accident, which occurred on the Tuesday 25.08.2024 about 7:30am along the
Highgate main road in the parish of St. Mary. One person was injured.
Reporting that on Tuesday 25th August 2024 about 8am, I investigated a traffic accident that occurred
along the Highgate main road involving a Grey 2020 Toyota Corolla motor truck registered 1246HY,
owned and driven by Ms. Calesia Duncan age 34-year-old D.O.B 6/7/1990 Farmer of Richmond Highgate
St. Mary and a White 2019 Toyota motorcar registered 6754DE owned and driven by Mr. Rayon
Edwards age 30-year-old D.O.B 5/4/1990 Teacher of Tremolesworth, Highgate, St. Mary and Ms. Stacy
Walsh 30 years old DOB 12.07.94 pump attendant of Rock Spring, St. Mary.
Facts are that both vehicles were travelling in the same direction along the Highgate main road when the
Toyota motor truck swerved to the left to avoid a manhole left open by National Water
Commission(NWC) who were fixing broken pipes along the main road and collided with the Toyota
motorcar who had slowed to allow a pedestrian to cross the road, causing the Toyota motorcar to hit Ms.
Stacy Walsh who was crossing the road. She received injuries to both hands and feet. Extensive damage
was received to the rear of the Toyota motorcar driven by Mr. Edwards and minor damages to the front
end of the motor truck driven by Ms. Duncan and its windshield as a result of it running off the roadway
into a yard damaging a chain-link fence.
As a result of the accident both Mr. Rayon Edwards, driver of the Toyota motorcar and pedestrian Ms.
Stacy Walsh received injuries. The driver of the Toyota motorcar received injuries to his lower back and
neck. the pedestrian received injuries to both legs and arms. They were taken to the Port Maria hospital
by Mr. Luke Smith, 24 years old DOB 12-7-00, taxi driver of Clonmel district St. Mary. Mr Edwards was
treated and sent home, while Ms. Stacy Walsh was admitted in stable condition and kept for observation.
I made documentations of what I observed when I first got to the scene and collected statements from
both drivers. The certifying officer of St. Mary, Mr Dave Scott examined both vehicles. Both drivers
received copies of warning notices.
Kindly see attached statements from both drivers and injured pedestrian and copies of warning notices.
