Proceedings:

1. Review and Approval of Previous Minutes


2. The previous minutes were reviewed and approved without any
objections.
3. Discussion

Overview of Special Needs in Education (SNED)

 Sir Rhenan Vince P. Betque, facilitator provided an overview of SNED,


emphasizing the need for inclusive education to address the diverse
needs of students with disabilities.

 Types of special needs learners were discussed, including students with


physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioral
disorders.

 The importance of adapting the curriculum and learning environment to


meet these needs was highlighted.

2. Best Practices for Supporting Special Needs Learners

 The group discussed effective practices in supporting special needs


students, such as Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), differentiated
instruction, and the use of assistive technologies.

 Teachers shared their experiences in accommodating students with


different learning abilities and challenges.

 It was noted that strong collaboration between teachers, parents, and


support staff is crucial for student success.

3. Teacher Training and Development

 Training opportunities for teachers to enhance their skills in handling


students with special needs were explored.

 The need for regular professional development sessions focusing on


special education techniques was emphasized.

 Teachers agreed on the importance of continuous learning and the


need for workshops on various types of special needs, including autism,
ADHD, and sensory impairments.

4 Classroom Strategies for Inclusion

 Glencee G. Japitana, facilitator, shared various strategies for promoting


inclusive classrooms were discussed, including flexible seating, sensory
breaks, and visual aids.

 Teachers suggested creating a more inclusive environment by using


peer support systems and ensuring equal activity participation.

 It was also suggested that classrooms should have designated areas


where students can calm down or focus if they feel overwhelmed.

5. Proposed Future Actions

 The following actions were proposed:

o Conduct a school-wide seminar or workshop on SNED to raise

o Establish a support group within the school for teachers handling


special needs learners.

o Allocate resources for the procurement of assistive technologies


for the classroom.

o Coordinate with parents and local community organizations to


support the school's efforts in inclusive education.

6. Open Forum

 The floor was opened for further questions and suggestions. Teachers
raised concerns about classroom size, availability of resources, and the
need for administrative support in implementing inclusive education.

 One suggestion was to create a dedicated resource center for special


education within the school.

7. Next Steps

 The group agreed to form a committee to oversee the implementation


of inclusive education strategies.

 The next SLAC session will focus on assessing the progress of the SNED
initiative and planning further actions.

Conclusion:

The LAC session ended at 5:00 PM.
