Time Allowed: 2 Hours Maximum Marks: 40

General Instructions:

i. This Question paper is divided into five sections-Section A, B, C, D, and E.


ii. All questions are compulsory.
iii. Section-A: Question no. 1 to 5 are very short answer type questions of 2 marks each. The
answer to each question should not exceed 40 words.
iv. Section-B: Question no. 6 to 8 are short answer type questions, carrying 3 marks each. The
answer to each question should not exceed 80 words.
v. Section-C: Question no. 9 and 10 are long answer-type questions, carrying 5 marks each
answer were to each question should not exceed 120 words.
vi. Section-D: Question no. 11, 12and 13 are Case-Based questions.
vii. Section-E: Question no. 14 is map-based, carrying 3 marks.
viii. There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has been
provided in a few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions has to be attempted.
ix. In addition to this, separate instructions are given with each section and question, wherever
necessary.

11. Read the given text and answer the following questions:
India is an ancient civilization but now it is a developing nation. It has shown remarkable
progress in various fields. India lies entirely in the Northern Hemisphere. The Tropic of Cancer
divides India into two almost equal parts. The island groups of Lakshadweep and Andaman &
Nicobar are also part of India. Covering an area of 3.28 million square kilometers, India’s total
area is 2.4% of the total geographical area of the world. India is the world’s seventh-largest
country with a land boundary of about 15,200 km, with the total length of the coastline being
7,516.6 km.

12. Read the given text and answer the following questions:
This Order announced a major policy decision. It said that 27 percent of the vacancies in civil
posts and services under the Government of India are reserved for the Socially and Educationally
Backward Classes (SEBC). SEBC is another name for all those people who belong to castes that
are considered backward by the government. The benefit of job reservation was till then
available only to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Now a new third category called
SEBC was introduced. Only persons who belong to backward classes were eligible for this quota
of 27 percent jobs. Others could not compete for these jobs.

13. Read the given text and answer the following questions:
Nazi ideology was synonymous with Hitler’s worldview. Hitler’s racism borrowed from thinkers
like Charles Darwin and Herbert Spencer. Darwin was a natural scientist who tried to explain the
creation of plants and animals through the concept of evolution and natural selection. Herbert
Spencer later added the idea of survival of the fittest. According to this idea, only those species
survived on earth that could adapt themselves to changing climatic conditions. The other aspect
of Hitler’s ideology related to the geopolitical concept of Lebensraum, or living space. He
believed that new territories had to be acquired for settlement.
