Objective:

The objective of this lab task is to design and optimize a simple amplifier circuit for a given set
of specifications. This task will involve selecting appropriate components, building the circuit,
and optimizing its performance. CLO1 and CLO4 would be evaluated during the lab.

Requirements:
Transistor
Resistors and Capacitors
Breadboard and jumper wires
Oscilloscope
Function generator
Multimeter

Specifications:
Use a 2N3904 or 2N2222A in your design.
The supply voltage should be equal to 15V.
The required gain of the amplifier should be equal to 20
The phase shift between input and output should be 180 degrees.
The maximum collector current should be 10mA.
Voltage divider bias configuration with emitter stabilized bias should be used for stability.
The operating frequency should be 5 KHz
A load resistor of 1K Ohm should be applied.

Component Selection:
Choose a transistor suitable for the application.
Select resistors and capacitors that meet the design specifications.
Circuit Design:
1. Design the amplifier circuit on paper, including the arrangement of components and the
connection to the power supply.
2. Calculate component values using relevant equations and formulas. Show all your calculations
and final component values.
3. Submit all necessary plots showing that the specifications are satisfied. Also, provide the circuit
schematic with DC bias points annotated.
4. Be prepared to discuss your design with your instructor.
Breadboarding:
Implement the designed circuit on a breadboard.

Testing and Measurement:

Connect the function generator to the input of the amplifier circuit and the oscilloscope to the output.
Measure the gain, input, and output impedances, and frequency response of the amplifier.
Use the oscilloscope to observe the waveform and ensure it meets the specifications.
Optimization:
Experiment with different component values to optimize the performance of the amplifier.
Verify how changes in resistors and capacitors affect gain, bandwidth, and other parameters.
Analysis and Documentation:
Document your design choices, calculations, and observations.
Provide an analysis of the optimized amplifier's performance.
Report Submission: Prepare a comprehensive lab report that includes:
Introduction and objectives
Circuit design and component selection
Testing and measurement results
Optimization process and outcomes
Analysis of the amplifier's performance
Conclusion and insights gained from the lab task
Note: This lab task is designed to encourage students to apply their theoretical knowledge of electronic
devices and circuits to a practical design problem. It also allows for creativity and exploration in the
optimization process.
