Interior Design Career

Daily Job Duties:

• Install furniture & other items to


decorate buyers' homes, then remove
staging items when the house goes off
the market.
• May completely furnish a new home
• May add staging items to supplement
the current owners existing furniture.
What would an
average day
consist of?
• ~ First you must make a
plan/layout of what you want the
house to look like, then you would
go to wherever the furniture it
stored and get all the furniture you
need.
• After that long process you will
go to the house and make the
plans come to life. The stager
meticulously positions every piece
of furniture, arranges décor, and
ensures each room tells its own
story.
• ~ A home stager works at least 60 hours per week.

Hours of work • Salary range: $34,5000 - $48,000


• Starting: $34,500
and pay: • Potential: $48,000

Work environment: Where would
you spend most of your time?
• ~ A home stager spends most of their time in either
the home or in the warehouse with the furniture.
• Living room = 91%
• Kitchen = 81%
• Primary bedroom = 81%
• Dining room = 69%
-What would you wear?-
I would personally wear something
professional or neat looking.
Any collaborations? • Collaborations: A home stager will most commonly
collab with real estate agents.

Working with • Public: Yes! You would meet with people who are
interested in buying the home.

employees/public? • Employees: Home stagers are responsible for moving


the furniture so they will most likely get help from other
employees.
Stressors of the job:

• The estimated stress level of a home stager can


vary depending on various factors such as the
number of projects they are handling, client
demands, deadlines , and the complexity of the
staging process.
• Since home staging involves creativity, attention to
detail, and the ability to work under pressure, It can
be somewhat stressful. However, most home stagers
find the work rewarding and fullfilling despite the
occasional stressors. On a sacle from one to ten, I
would rate the stress level a five.
Education:
• Post – Secondary Education
is not required! But if you
want to go the extra mile you
can apply at any college that
offers interior design, such as
Shepard University!
• In High School it might be a
good idea to take geometry,
trigonometry, art, and interior
design if your school offers it
so you can be extra prepared!
Skills, talents, and
interests helpful for a
home stager
• Creativity, attention to detail, interior
design knowledge, communication
skills, project management, problem
solving, marketing insight, physical
staninna, and interests are all very
helpful for a home stager
Personal characteristics needed to
be successful in home staging:
Attention to detail, patience, flexibility, strong work ethic, and resilience are key
characteristics for success and happiness in home staging!
