me as it would save me time and money on transportation. Being close to my university or workplace
would allow me to easily commute back and forth, giving me more time to focus on my studies or
career. Additionally, living in a flat in the city would provide me with easy access to amenities, such as
grocery stores, restaurants, and entertainment options. Overall, the convenience and practicality of
living in a flat near my university or company outweigh the appeal of a small house in the city centre or

TOPICS
You have 2 minutes to deliver a speech of the topic given. You are expected to include three parts
of a speech, namely Introduction, Development and Conclusion with the use of some linking
words.

1/ “There are a lot of complaints about restaurants in Vietnam”

Present your view with clear arguments and specific, real-life examples to support your view.
After finishing your speech, answer the following questions:
1. Which are most popular in your country: fast food restaurants or traditional ones?
2. Some people say that food in an expensive restaurant is always better than that in a cheap one –
would you agree?

Introduction:
Today, I want to address the topic of complaints about restaurants in Vietnam.
Development:
There have been numerous complaints regarding restaurants in Vietnam, ranging from poor
service to unsanitary conditions. One major complaint is the lack of consistency in the quality of
food. Some restaurants may serve delicious dishes one day and then disappoint customers the next.
Additionally, the cleanliness of restaurants is often called into question, with reports of dirty kitchens
and unsanitary dining areas. Another common complaint is the high prices of some restaurants,
which may not be justified by the quality of the food and service provided.
We've all seen news reports of unclean kitchens in buffets, which can be a real turn-off. A
recent incident involved a Nha Trang restaurant charging an exorbitant price for a seemingly simple
noodle dish. This lack of clarity can leave a sour taste in a customer's mouth.
However, it is important to note that there are also many exceptional restaurants in Vietnam that
go above and beyond to provide exceptional service and delicious food. These establishments have
earned a positive reputation among locals and tourists alike.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, while there are certainly complaints about restaurants in Vietnam, it is important
to recognize that there are also many wonderful dining establishments that provide excellent service
and delectable dishes. By being mindful of the quality and cleanliness of the restaurants we choose to
dine at, we can have a positive dining experience in Vietnam.
Answer:
1. In Vietnam, traditional restaurants are still more popular than fast food restaurants.
2. I do not agree with the statement that food in an expensive restaurant is always better than that in a
cheap one. There are many affordable restaurants in Vietnam that serve delicious and high-quality food.

2/ “There are many changes of shopping over the last decade”

Present your view with clear arguments and specific, real-life examples to support your view.
After finishing your speech, answer the following questions:
1. What are your shopping habits?
2. Do you think online shopping will replace small shops in the future? Why?
Introduction:
Over the last decade, shopping has undergone significant changes due to advancements in technology
and shifts in consumer behavior.

Development:
One of the biggest changes is the rise of online shopping like Shopee and Lazada in Vietnam.
With the convenience of shopping from the comfort of your own home and the ability to compare
prices and products easily, online shopping has become increasingly popular.
Another change in shopping habits over the last decade is the increasing emphasis on
sustainability. With a growing awareness of environmental issues, many consumers are now choosing
to shop at eco-friendly and sustainable brands. This shift towards more conscious shopping is evident in
the rise of thrift stores, eco-friendly products, and sustainable fashion options.
Conclusion:
As for the future of shopping, I do believe that online shopping will continue to grow and
potentially replace some small shops. However, I think there will always be a place for physical stores
that offer unique experiences and personal connections with customers. Ultimately, it will be up to
retailers to adapt to changing consumer preferences and find ways to stand out in an increasingly
competitive market.

Answer:
1. My Shopping Habits: About my shopping habits, I can tell you that I would likely be a hybrid
shopper, utilizing both online stores for convenience and physical stores for specific needs.
2. Online vs. Small Shops: While online shopping continues to grow, I don't believe it will
entirely replace small shops. There will always be a segment of the population that values the
personal touch and community aspect of local stores. Additionally, small shops can adapt by
establishing an online presence or specializing in unique products not readily available online.

After finishing your speech, answer the following questions:
1. What are the differences between the traditional and modern educational system in Vietnam?
2. What should be done to reduce educational problems in Vietnam?
Introduction:
Today, I want to address the various problems that exist within the education system in Vietnam.
Development:
Firstly, one of the key issues in Vietnam's education system is the overwhelming emphasis on
rote memorization. Students are often encouraged to memorize information without truly
understanding the concepts. This leads to a lack of critical thinking and problem-solving skills among
students. For example, in literature classes, teachers analyze the work and students just need to
memorize it.
Secondly, another problem in Vietnamese education is the lack of resources and outdated
teaching methods. Many schools in rural areas lack proper facilities and materials. Additionally,
teachers often rely on traditional teaching methods that do not engage students or make learning
enjoyable.
Furthermore, the pressure to perform well on standardized exams is immense in Vietnam.
This pressure can stifle creativity and innovation in students, as they are constantly focused on
memorizing information rather than exploring new ideas.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the education system in Vietnam faces numerous challenges that need to be
addressed. By focusing on promoting critical thinking, creativity, and providing adequate resources, we
can work towards improving the quality of education in Vietnam.
Answer:
1. As for the differences between the traditional and modern educational systems in Vietnam, the
traditional system is more focused on rote memorization and conformity, while the modern
system emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and personalized learning experiences.
2. To reduce educational problems in Vietnam, investments need to be made in resources and
facilities in schools, teachers need training on modern teaching methods, and a shift towards
student-centered learning needs to be promoted.
5/ “There are many changes in housing in housing in your hometown”
Present your view with clear arguments and specific, real-life examples to support your view.
After finishing your speech, answer the following questions:
1. Are people more or less interested in attending the festival? Why?
2. What should be done to promote a regional festival?
Introduction:
Today, I want to tell about many changes in housing in housing in our hometown
Development:
Firstly, Hanoi has witnessed a surge in high-rise apartment developments. Today, sleek
skyscrapers dot the landscape, offering modern amenities and convenient living for a growing urban
population. Now, it boasts several high-rise complexes like the Sunshine City Ciputra Hanoi, catering
to a new generation of residents.
Secondly, there's been a growing emphasis on mixed-use developments. This creates a vibrant
and self-contained living environment, perfect for those seeking a dynamic lifestyle. A prime example
is Vinhomes Ocean Park, a sprawling complex featuring apartments, a shopping mall, a water park, and
even a university, all within walking distance.
However, these changes also come with drawbacks. Rapid development has sometimes led to
concerns about infrastructure overload and a loss of the city's unique character. Traffic congestion has
increased, straining the existing transportation network.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, Hanoi's housing market is undergoing a dramatic transformation. While modern
amenities and conveniences are attractive, it's crucial to find a balance that preserves the city's cultural
heritage and ensures sustainable growth.
Answer:
1. Festival Interest: Public interest in festivals can fluctuate depending on several factors, such as
the festival's theme, popularity of the entertainment, and effective promotion.
2. Promoting a Regional Festival: Here are some ideas to promote a regional festival:
 Utilize social media and online platforms: Create engaging content, highlight unique aspects
of the festival, and partner with local influencers.
 Organize interactive pre-festival events: This could involve workshops, competitions, or
cultural demonstrations to generate excitement.
 Collaborate with regional tourism boards and businesses: Offer festival packages, discounts,
and special transportation options to attract visitors from neighboring areas.
 Ensure a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere: Feature diverse cultural performances, local food
vendors, and activities that cater to all ages and interests.

6/ “There are many changes in traditional festivals”

Present your view with clear arguments and specific, real-life examples to support your view.
After finishing your speech, answer the following questions:
1. Are people more or less interested in attending the festival? Why?
2. What should be done to promote a regional festival?
Introduction:
As we know, traditional festivals hold significant cultural and historical value in our society. However,
with the passage of time, these festivals are undergoing various changes that are impacting their
essence and significance.
Development:
One of the major changes in traditional festivals is the commercialization of these events with
a focus on generating profits rather than preserving cultural traditions. For example, the famous
Oktoberfest in Germany has evolved into a massive beer-drinking event, overshadowing its origins as a
celebration of Bavarian culture and heritage.
Another noticeable change is the modernization and adaptation of traditional festivals to
appeal to a younger audience. For instance, the Chinese New Year celebrations have incorporated
more contemporary elements such as music concerts and fashion shows to attract younger generations.
While this may help in attracting more attendees, it also dilutes the original cultural essence of the
festival.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the changes in traditional festivals are inevitable in our rapidly evolving society. While
some of these changes may attract more attendees and bring in revenue, it's essential to strike a balance
between innovation and preservation of cultural heritage.
Answer:
1. People may be more or less interested in attending festivals depending on their age, cultural
background, and personal preferences. Younger generations may be less interested due to
changing lifestyles and priorities, while older generations may still value the traditions and
cultural significance of these festivals.
2. To promote a regional festival, organizers could consider various strategies such as enhancing
marketing efforts, collaborating with local businesses and communities, incorporating interactive
and engaging activities, offering unique experiences or workshops, and reaching out to different
audiences through social media or partnerships with other organizations. Ultimately, the key is
to create a compelling and memorable experience that will attract attendees and showcase the
cultural heritage of the festival.

1. Are children more or less interested in reading? Why?
2. What should be done to encourage children to read?
Introduction:
Today I want to talk about the topic of how reading books brings many benefits. As an avid reader
myself, I strongly believe that reading is not only a pleasurable activity but also has numerous
advantages that can positively impact our lives.
Development:
Firstly, reading books can expand our knowledge and vocabulary. When we read, we are
exposed to new ideas, cultures, and perspectives that we may not encounter in our daily lives. This
broadens our understanding of the world around us and helps us become more empathetic individuals.
Additionally, reading can improve our cognitive skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving.
By engaging with complex narratives and characters, our brains are constantly challenged and
exercised, leading to improved mental agility and creativity.
Furthermore, reading can enhance our emotional well-being. Lastly, reading books is a
fantastic way to relax and de-stress. Immersing ourselves in a good book can transport us to different

our overall well-being and can help us recharge and rejuvenate.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, reading books brings many benefits that can enrich our lives in various ways. I strongly
encourage everyone to pick up a book and experience the joys and benefits that reading has to offer.
Answer:
1. Children may be less interested in reading due to the increasing prevalence of technology and
digital distractions. These days, children are often more drawn to screens and devices than to
books. However, with the right encouragement and guidance, children can develop a love for
reading that will last a lifetime.
2. To encourage children to read, parents and educators can create a reading-friendly environment
at home and at school. Providing children with access to a wide variety of books that cater to
their interests and reading levels is crucial. Additionally, setting aside dedicated time for daily
reading and making reading a fun and enjoyable activity can help instill a love for books in

noises?
Introduction:
Today, I want to talk about the effects of living in a noisy environment. Noise pollution has become a
common issue in our society, affecting our mental and physical well-being.
Development:
Firstly, living in a noisy environment can have a negative impact on our health. Studies have shown
that constant exposure to loud noises can lead to increased stress levels and even hearing loss. For
example, individuals living near busy highways or airports may experience disturbed sleep patterns and

Development:
Firstly, the internet has democratized access to information. With just a few clicks, we can find
answers to any question, learn new skills, or stay informed about current events. This accessibility has
empowered individuals to educate themselves, expand their knowledge, and make informed decisions.

Pollution is a significant issue that affects the health and well-being of people living in urban areas.
Development:
Firstly, one of the leading causes of pollution in cities is vehicular emissions. The increasing number
of cars on the roads emits harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, contributing to air
pollution. This not only affects the air quality but also poses serious health risks to the residents.
Secondly, industrial activities also play a significant role in city pollution. Factories and
manufacturing plants release toxic chemicals and waste into the air and water, contaminating the
environment and causing harm to both humans and wildlife.
Lastly, household waste and improper disposal methods contribute to pollution in cities. The
excessive use of single-use plastics and the improper disposal of garbage lead to littering and
contamination of the environment. This not only affects the aesthetics of the city but also harms
ecosystems and wildlife.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, it is evident that there are multiple causes of pollution in cities that need to be addressed
urgently. By implementing sustainable practices, promoting clean energy alternatives, and enforcing

beyond their regular shifts. However, this practice often comes with negative consequences that can
impact both the individual's well-being and their overall productivity.
Development:
Working overtime can lead to burnout and increased stress levels. When employees
consistently work extra hours, they have less time to relax and recharge, leading to mental and physical
exhaustion. This can result in lower job satisfaction, decreased motivation, and ultimately, poorer
performance at work.
Furthermore, working excessive hours can also have negative effects on one's health. Lack of
sleep and constant stress can lead to a variety of health issues, such as heart disease, obesity, and
depression. This not only impacts the individual's quality of life but can also result in increased
healthcare costs for both the individual and their employer.
To illustrate, a recent study showed that employees who regularly worked overtime were more
likely to experience symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, while the occasional overtime may be necessary in certain situations, the long-term
consequences of consistently working extra hours can be detrimental to both individuals and
organizations.

Answers to questions:
1. To avoid working overtime, individuals should prioritize time management, set boundaries, and
communicate openly with their employers about their workload and deadlines.
2. In the future, I believe that people will work less due to a growing awareness of the negative effects
of overwork on health and productivity. Companies are starting to recognize the importance of work-
life balance and are implementing policies to promote employee well-being.

comes to food. From food safety concerns to issues of affordability and access, there are many
challenges that need to be addressed in order to ensure that all Vietnamese people have access to
nutritious and safe food.
Development:
One of the main problems with food in Vietnam is food safety. There have been numerous
cases of food poisoning and contamination in recent years, leading to serious health risks for
consumers. For example, in 2016, there was a scandal involving the sale of meat tainted with a toxic
chemical called Clenbuterol, which led to widespread public outrage and calls for better regulation of
the food industry.
Another issue that plagues the Vietnamese food system is food affordability and access.
Many people in Vietnam struggle to afford nutritious food, leading to high rates of malnutrition and
other diet-related health problems. In rural areas, where the majority of the population resides, access to
fresh fruits and vegetables can be limited, leading to a lack of dietary diversity and increased risk of
nutrient deficiencies.
Conclusion:

16/ “Many things should be changed about education in Vietnam.”

Present your view with clear arguments and specific, real-life examples to support your view.
After finishing your speech, answer the following questions:
1. Is it a good practice for students to wear uniform at schools? Why/ why not?
2. Which do you prefer: a single-sex school or a co-educational school? Why?
Introduction:
Today, I would like to address the pressing issue of education reform in Vietnam. As a concerned
citizen, I firmly believe that there are many aspects of the education system that are in need of
significant change
Development:
Firstly, one of the key areas that should be reformed is the curriculum. The current curriculum
in Vietnam is heavily focused on rote memorization and standardized testing, which greatly impedes
critical thinking and creativity among students. To remedy this, there should be a greater emphasis on
project-based learning and hands-on activities in the classroom.
Another aspect that requires change is the teacher training and evaluation system. Teachers in
Vietnam are often overworked and undertrained, leading to subpar educational experiences for
students. The government needs to invest in professional development programs and implementing
better evaluation mechanisms.
Finally, the education system in Vietnam would greatly benefit from increased investment in
technology and infrastructure in order to increase students' ability to compete in a globalized world.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, it is clear that there are numerous areas in which the education system in Vietnam can be
improved. By focusing on curriculum reform, teacher training, and investment in technology, we can
better equip our students for success in the modern world.
Answer:
1. I believe that it is a good practice for students to wear uniforms at schools. Uniforms promote a
sense of unity and equality among students, while also reducing distractions based on clothing
choices. This allows students to focus on their studies and creates a more disciplined learning
environment.
2. Personally, I prefer co-educational schools. I believe that mixing genders in the classroom
provides a more diverse and balanced learning environment, where students can develop social
skills and learn to interact with people of different genders. This helps prepare them for the real
world, where they will need to collaborate and communicate with individuals of all genders.
