Remedy Action Request System 9.1 Compatibility Information
Introduction
Every effort is made to include the most up-to-date and accurate compatibility information. The information is subject to change, as
BMC over the course of time revises and expands the list of compatibility products/versions.
Compatibility Definition
The Remedy AR System 9.1 Compatibility Matrix is divided into multiple areas of support. Each of these areas is further broken
down into three sections:
• Supported Configurations
• Known Issues
• Potential Issues
The Supported Configurations are those where the configuration is expected to work properly based on design, testing or
general understanding of the interaction between products. For supported configurations, BMC Customer Support will work with
customers on an issue involving the configuration until either the issue is resolved or a defect / enhancement is logged.
Configurations not listed may still operate properly with AR System and thus customers may choose to run AR System in a
configuration not listed as supported. Such configurations would be considered as “unconfirmed”. BMC Remedy will accept
issues reported in unconfirmed configurations but we reserve the right to request customer assistance in problem determination,
including recreating the problem on a supported configuration. Reported defects either found to be unique to an unconfirmed
configuration or not reproducible within a supported environment will be addressed at the discretion of BMC Remedy. Defects
requiring time and resources beyond commercially reasonable effort may not be addressed. If a configuration is found to be
incompatible with AR System or ITSM applications, support for that configuration will be specifically documented as not supported
(or unsupported – c.f. Known Issues below).
The Known Issues section documents any known additional requirements or incompatibilities between BMC products and
products from other vendors. This list represents only those situations that BMC has encountered or researched and may not
represent an exhaustive list.
The Potential Issues section documents issues of supportability or incompatibility between BMC products and products from other
vendors that are for informational purposes only. Final word on these statements would need to be stated in documentation from
the other vendor.
NOTE:
Compatibility matrix for BMC Remedy AR System is cumulative for any major/minor release and its associated service packs.
Check document version history to find updates in compatibility between service pack releases (if any).
4
Remedy Action Request System 9.1 Compatibility Information
For example, if Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 were listed, AR System would support RHEL 5, 6 and future higher versions of
RHEL.
In the event that a vendor does not provide backwards compatibility, BMC reserves the right to rescind support for a specified
version of a vendor’s product and document such incompatibilities once confirmed. BMC may, at BMC’s discretion, attempt to
address a discovered incompatibility by modifying the current version of AR System. However, if major architectural changes in a
vendor product require significant BMC development to achieve tolerance, support for the vendor product may be deferred to a
later version of AR System.

Remedy Action Request System 9.1 Compatibility Information
• BMC Remedy AR System server supports Oracle Database (supported versions and editions) running on Oracle
Exadata.
• BMC Remedy AR System server supports Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) feature of Oracle Database.
• BMC Software has tested Oracle RAC with the Single Client Access Name (SCAN) domain name configuration so
clients can access clustered Oracle Databases with a single name.
• In a three-node deployment, our testing confirmed that failover performed as expected, including an API failure, which is
a known characteristic of a failure. The test configuration used by BMC is described by Oracle in "How to Deploy Oracle
Real Application Clusters (RAC) in Minutes Using Oracle VM Templates."
• Beginning with the BMC Remedy AR System Server 9.1.02 (service pack 2), BMC supports Oracle Data Guard. More

• BMC Remedy AR System Server requires following as minimum patch versions for Oracle Database,
o Oracle Database (Standard Edition 2/ Enterprise Edition) v12c Release 1 (12.1) - Patchset 2
o Oracle Database (Standard Edition/ Standard Edition One/ Enterprise Edition) v11gR2 (11.2) - Patchset 4
Oracle refers to Java 1.8 as “8.0”. See Java SE Naming and Versions for more details.
Known Issues
• Java 9 (or higher) is not supported for any version of Remedy AR System across any platform/operating system
• When running in a 64-bit JVM, the Email Engine cannot support the MAPI protocol.
• When running in a 64-bit JVM, OLE Automation feature will not be available in Developer Studio.

Microsoft has announced to retire all versions under Internet Explorer 11 on January 12, 2016. Microsoft recommends to upgrade
to Internet Explorer 11 and run in ‘Enterprise Mode’ that offers better backward compatibility, enabling customers to run legacy web
applications designed for older versions of Internet Explorer.
• BMC Software provides Limited Support for Flash-based capabilities in BMC products when used in combination with
the HARMAN browser (Chromium option only). This Limited Support is provided temporarily until Dec 31, 2021, to cover
the time period until customers upgrade to the latest BMC product version that has replaced the Flash-based
capabilities. Refer to following resources from BMC, Adobe and Harman for more details,

Support Definitions
Support is defined at two levels — full or partial for virtual or cloud environment deployments.
A fully supported virtual or cloud environment indicates that BMC will accept reported issues with Remedy running in the virtual or
cloud environment; recreate any reported issues within the virtual environment; and address the issues in the same manner as
other reported issues in non-virtual/cloud environments.
Partial supported indicates that BMC will accept issues reported in the virtual or cloud environments specified below, but reserves
the right to request customer assistance in problem determination, including recreating the issue in a non-virtual environment.
Under partial support, reported defects either found to be unique to a virtual environment or not reproducible within a native non-
virtual environment will be addressed at the discretion of BMC. Defects requiring time and resources beyond commercially
reasonable effort may not be addressed.
BMC will only provide partial or full support for those operating systems running within a virtual or cloud environment that are
defined within this Remedy AR System compatibility document as supported on a non-virtual environment.

Entries marked with * represent combinations that are supported in limited form with some assumed risk on quality since BMC has
not fully validated these combinations. BMC highly recommends to use the same version of Remedy AR Systems Server and all its
components (e.g. developer studio, email engine, DSO and so on).
However, customers can choose to run a different version of Remedy ITSM Applications compatible with selected Remedy AR
Systems Server (e.g. Remedy Service Desk 9.1.00 running on Remedy AR Systems Server 9.1.03)
• Remedy AR System servers co-located on the same machine must be the same version.
• In Remedy AR System 7.5.00 and higher, unlimited flashboards no longer require an additional license add-on.
• Remedy Applications and Products compatibility information in the above table remains same for 9.1 release and any
subsequent service pack releases. Any exception is highlighted.
