Good morning, Teacher and classmates.
Today I am going to talk to you about the life of friend,
Sofonisba Anguissola. Sofonisba was the first woman of the renaissance to get international fame. She was born in Cremona, Italy on January first, 1532. She was born in a noble family. She was the oldest of six sisters and one brother. She was sent away with one of her sisters to study with Bernardino Campi, a local painter, where she studied art. When Campi went away, she studied with Bernardino Gatti. She then became a very talented artist. Her work was critiqued by the famous Michealangelo. He helped her develop more skills as a painter. What type of work did Sofonisba paint? She painted art relating to religion, family groups and women. She painted women in their simple form, without hairstyles or jewelry. She liked to paint them the way the were naturally. Sofonisba brought feminism in the renaissance through her artwork. She thought women were intelligent and should be respected. I will now present some of the most important are work of my friend Sofonisba. Anguissola had two marriages. She first got married to Fabrizio Moncada in 1571. When he died, she met Orazio Lomellino and fell in love with him. They got married in 1579. She died at the age of 93. Thank you for your attention.
