    Briefly describe how the stones are dressed after they are quarried. Given in detail the characteristics of good building stones and name the common types of stones used in Building construction. Discuss the various test for the acceptance of bricks for building construction. Enlist different characteristics of its class bricks. Discuss different types of tiles, Mention their various uses in building construction. What is the purpose of glazing of tiles and how is it done? Explain the process of manufacturing of Cement by wet and dry process. Discuss the different kinds of Cement and their uses in the field of construction. List out the quality tests which are to be carried out over the coarse and fine aggregates to be used in cement concrete. What is fine modulus of aggregates and how is it calculated. Give the range of values of fineness modulus of fine aggregates to be used in cement concrete. Describe the structure and growth of an exogenous tree. Describe the various preservatives used and the different processes adopted for treatment of timber for preserving it. What is varnish and discuss its ingredients and uses. Enumerate the various steps involved in the preparation of a paint and discuss the function of each ingredients used there in. Define an alloy. Describe the properties and uses of some important nonferrous alloys. Enumerate the salient characteristics of plastics and discuss their scope for use in construction work. Give different classification of a glass.
