Petra, The Lost City Of Stone
Named as one of the seven wonders of modern world, « Petra »
also called « The Lost City of Stone », is the best touristic place
in Jordan and one of the world’s most famous historical sites.
Petra is an ancient city half man made and half carved into
stones in the mountains of Jordan. It is situated 260 kilometres
southern the capital Amman in Wadi Moussa desert between the
Dead Sea and the Red Sea.
The history of Petra started with nomadic Arab people in
312 BC. They first lived in tents then they carved houses in
stones of the mountains. They practised commerce.
The city of Petra was the home for about 30.000 people including
Romans and businessmen from different parts of the ancient world .The best-known
of the monuments at Petra is full of tombs and temples of ancient Kings are kept.
Petra is really a fascinating place that we should visit.
