1) There are some differences about monolingual and bilingual brains, research
has shown that bilingualism has been associated with cognitive benefits such
as better problem-solving abilities, greater creativity, and improved flexibility in
thinking.
2) The abilities are divided in active (speaking, writing) and passive (listening
and reading).
3) There are 3 types of bilingual, compound (learned two or more languages at
the same time), coordinate (learn the another language as speak other), and
subordinate ( learns another language based of the first language).
4) Children can learn languages faster because they can use two hemispheres of
the brain to learn, while adults can use just one.
5) Some advantages are higher density of the gray matter in your brain and more
activity in certain regions of the brain.
6) Yes, because you have more time to learn and improve your fluency and
proficiency.
