PDRRMC MEMO 53 SUSPENSION OF Classes
1. References:

c) DOST-PAGASA Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 4, issued at 5:00 PM, September 16, 2024, for
Tropical Depression “GENER”
2. In view of Department of Education (DepEd) Order No. 037, series of 2022, in-person, online
classes and work from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and Alternative learning System (ALS) are
automatically cancelled in schools situated in Local Government Units issued with Tropical
Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) 1, 2,3,4, or 5 by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and
Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
3. Further, as per DOST-PAGASA Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 4 issued at 5:00 PM, September
16, 2024, Tropical Depression “GENER” continues to approach Northern Luzon. At 4:00 PM
today, center of Tropical Depression GENER was estimated based on all available data at 290
km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (17.4°N, 124.5°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55
km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 996 hPa, moving
Northwestward at 10 km/h. GENER is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Isabela or
Aurora tonight or tomorrow early morning and may likely emerge over the coastal waters of La
Union or Pangasinan tomorrow (17 September) late morning or noon. GENER will likely cross
the landmass of mainland Luzon as a tropical depression, although the possibility of reaching
tropical storm category or slight weakening prior to landfall is not ruled out. Tropical Cyclone
Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is currently in effect in Aurora Province.
4. In connection with the above references, the undersigned hereby order the SUSPENSION OF
CLASSES AT ALL LEVELS IN ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN THE PROVINCE
OF AURORA ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 DUE TO TROPICAL DEPRESSION “GENER” to
ensure the welfare and safety of students and school personnel.
