Characters:
- Teacher: A 8th grader teacher_Kripali
- Colonel Robert Clive: British representative_Ankitha
- Raja Hyder Ali: Mysorean ruler_Kiruthik
- Student: Gunn and Lakshmi
Teacher: Hello Walo Ello. it's me, your most favourite teacher of your most favourite subject
- your dearest social teacher. Guess who I am dressed like today?
Teacher: Yeah, yeah I knew it was obvious. So yes, I am dressed as a fierce and dominating
king. Today we're gonna dive into the past and look into negotiations made by a powerful
king just like me and the decline of his kingdom. Here's a clue about the wait- it is the 32
year long war with the British. Do you know what war is?
Teacher: Yeah! Absolutely right my little historians. So now I am playing a video for this
topic. So it starts like this. Colonel Clive is seated at a table on one side, and Raja Hyder Ali
is seated on the other side. Colonel Clive expects more trading privileges to build a strong
foundation for the British empire in India.
Colonel Clive: (Nods respectfully to Raja Hyder Ali) Your Highness, the British East India
Company seeks a peaceful resolution to this conflict, by gaining some trading privileges.
Raja Hyder Ali: (Sternly) We will not cede our lands to the British. My people have been
residing here for generations.
Colonel Clive: (Trying to find common ground) Although we recognise the significance of
your kingdom's past, the Company nevertheless has its own objectives.
Raja Hyder Ali: (Looks at the treaty, then back at Clive) And what guarantees do we have
that this treaty will be honoured?
Colonel Clive: (Assuring) Our word as a representative of the British East India Company,
and the trust that comes with it.
Raja Hyder Ali: (Pauses, then extends his hand to Clive) somehow, let this treaty bring an
end to the bloodshed.
Colonel Clive: (Shakes hands with Raja Hyder Ali) Your Highness, we thank you for your
wisdom.
Teacher: Colonel Clive and Raja Hyder Ali exchange nods, and they rise from their seats.
The Treaty of Madras was signed, marking a temporary pause in the conflict between the
British East India Company and the Mysorean Kingdom. And this war is going to move a
long way pulling controversies.
Student(Gunn): But mam I have a doubt? If this treaty was signed why this war was
extended soo much?
Teacher: This is because soon when the Marathas invaded Mysore, the British refused to
honour the treaty of madras. This made Haider Ali fight against the British East India
Company.
Teacher: My little historians, now we are at the lands of the Second-Anglo Mysore War. And
the war began with bloodshed.
Characters:
- British soldier: Ankitha, Krish
- French and Mysore soldier: Aadhya, Bharrath, Lakshmi
- Student: Gunn and Lakshmi
(French And Mysorean) : You cowards when the marathas were to attack us you never
gave your assistance.
Teacher: Sadly, during this war Hyder Ali died. ( sneezing) But, the reign of the kingdom
was continued by the Tiger of Mysore, Tipu sultan. But there was a twist here.
Student(Lakshmi): Mam what was that? Did they again end with a treaty?
Teacher: Oh my god, you actually found out the policy of politics. Yes, as said the treaty
was signed and called the Treaty of Mangalore, where both parties agreed to return their
captured territories and prisoners.

Characters:
- Tipu Sultan: Ruler of Mysore_Bharrath
- Lord Wellesley: British officer_Lakshmi
- Local Villager: A resident caught in the conflict_Kiruthik
- Student: Gunn
Teacher: Tipu sultan did not honour the treaty and did not return the prisoners back to the
british and he also aligned with the French which the British saw as threat.
Student (Gunn): But mam the British people were so powerful, then why were the French a
threat to them?
Teacher: Gunn, this is because Tipu Sultan modernised his army with the help of the
French. They attacked the nearby Kingdom of Travancore for wealth and gained more
power.
Lord wellesley: Tipu did not follow the treaty. We have to take action to keep our heads up.
Let the war begin
(fighting)
Teacher: There was no clear victor and this led to another treaty called the Treaty of
Seringapatam. This treaty outlined the ceasing of land, core war indemnity and taking the
two sons of Tipu for surety.
Characters:
- Tipu Sultan: Ruler of Mysore_Bharrath
- Lord Wellesley: British General_Aadhya
- Student: Gunn and Lakshmi
Tipu Sultan: (angrily) The British are encroaching on our lands once again. We must defend
our kingdom!
Lord Wellesley: Our goal is to defeat Tipu Sultan and bring an end to Mysorean resistance.
Teacher: The battle rages on, with both sides fighting valiantly.
Scene 4: Tipu Sultan's Defeat
(Tipu Sultan's soldiers are overwhelmed, and he himself is captured)
Tipu Sultan: (definitely) Though I may be captured, Mysore's spirit will endure! My troops
were outnumbered and I can't believe you made an alliance with the Marathas and the
Nizam of hyderabad.
Lord Wellesley: (triumphant) The battle is won. Mysore shall now be under British control.
Teacher: The Fourth Anglo-Mysore War concludes with Mysore falling to British rule.
Teacher: The Fourth Anglo-Mysore War reshaped the destiny of the region, as Mysore
came under British dominion. Tipu's sons who were captured for surety, were later killed by
the British. Such a miserable ending right?
Teacher: Oh my god, this video was so long, yet very useful. Anyways the period is over, I
will be giving you a HW now.
Teacher: Ok kids. So divide all of you into 3 groups and I want each group to do a drama on
any topic that we have learned in this lesson till now. Thank You, my little historians.
Teacher: Oey. Have some respect while the king is leaving. Lakshmi, go get the pink slip.
Everyone in the class is going to get one!
