1. How does population growth impact the agricultural sector?

- The people depend on the agricultural sector to secure food, however today with the
accelerated growth of population, so does the agriculture. It will put pressure to the
farmers to grow more food or the clear vegetable to give way for the crops and
ultimately damages the nearby ecosystem.
2. Does importation of agricultural products (livestock and crops) sustainably support the
need of the country for food?
- Yes, it could be seen as sharing of food between countries in order for people to eat
3 times a day. When a country lacks food, importation can be seen as helping hand
to that country.
3. How does eventual climate change (e.g. el niño, sea level rise) impact the agricultural
sector?
- Eventual climate change greatly affects the agricultural sector for the reason that
most crops depend on what season they favor and the disruption of the season leads
to famine. El Niño is a severe drought and without water crops cannot grow and
irrigation canal is needed, also the rise of sea level can disrupt shore lines.

4. Describe the linkage between biodiversity loss and poor agricultural productivity.
- Losing plants and animals means soil will deteriorate and the minerals it contains will
be lost through soil erosion. Poor soil leads to crops not growing properly or not
growing at all.
5. How can we ensure food security in the country without compromising the
environment? ( give 10 points agenda).
- (1)Organic farming, (2) Practicing Hydrophonics, (3) renewable energy for farming, (4)
use less chemicals for agriculture, (5) better irrigation, (6) supporting local farmers,
(7) Having better waste management, (8) protecting natural vegetation, (9)
education on people about food choices, and (10) selecting crops breeds that can
produce more.
Bonus: How does territorial disputes or issues of ownership to some West Philippine Sea
islands may result on a food insecurity crisis in the Philippines?
- West Philippine Sea is a sea rich of fish resources and the issues of ownership blocks
Filipinos the access to this resource that it can affect the fishing industry specially
the fishermen near Scarborough Shoal.
