2. Work out : resolve itself /solve 3. Set up : arrange / found 4. Come out : to say, tell a story /exit 5. Burn out : became exhausted, give up /to emerge, be revealed 6. Turn away : reject : ignore 7. Take up : start / occupy time or space 8. Turn on : appear / extinguish 9. Hang up: put down phone receiver / slow down 10. Go on : continue / happen Idiom: A group of words that has a special meaning that is different form the ordinary meaning of each separate word. Have a leg to stand on = a strong legal or logical argument. At hand = coming soon. Put your foot in your mouth = say something foolish, inappropriate, or rude. Looked down at their noses = view with contempt. Twist men around her little finger = make men do what she wants. See eye to eye = t0 agree. Turned a deaf ear = ignore, pretend not to hear. Heart and soul = 100% effort. At the top of their lungs = ass loudly as they could. Pick each other’s brains = ask each other lots of detailed questions.
