TAKING THE NEXT STEP
IN DIGITAL DENTISTRY

Dental Masters Laboratory is dedicated to

staying at the forefront of dental technology.
As the numerous benefits of integrating digital
technology into an office’s workflow become
more apparent, we are seeing dentists across
the country choosing to invest in scanners of
their own. An intraoral scanner will improve
communication with labs, eliminate shipping
time, and increase patient satisfaction due to a
higher level of precise fit.

The large number of digital scanners currently

on the market can be intimidating. This book
provides an overview of five of the main scanners
clinicians use. We have gathered this information
in order to help you find the scanner that will fit
your practice perfectly.

Dental Masters is Fully Digitally Ready

Dental Masters Laboratory knows how important digital technology is to today’s world of dentistry.
Digital dentistry is here to stay, and it’s constantly evolving. It’s not a trend; it’s the new road map for
the future. We’ve made the capital investments necessary to bring you the capabilities that only state-
of-the-art systems can provide. Dental Masters stays up to date with the latest digital tools that make
it easier to reach our goal of helping you serve more patients more efficiently and with predictable,
consistent results.
HOW TO FIND YOUR SCANNER
We want you to make this decision
fully informed and have compiled a
list of questions to keep in mind as
your read through this e-book.

• Does this scanner offer an open or closed system?

An open system allows you to work with any lab no matter their digital system. A closed system
requires a lab that uses the same system.

• Are there options or modules that can be added later for further investment?
Many scanners have additional features that can be purchased later on.

• Will this scanner work well with various treatments popular at your practice?
If you see a lot of patients interested in orthodontic treatments you may want to look for
scanners that can also be used for those types of impressions.

• Are there data fees included with purchase?

Some scanners do not include data fees with purchase, but others may cover them up to a year.

• Is powder application required?

More scanners are coming on the market that do not require powder application for
an impression.

• Does the scanner allow you to easily rescan and fill in missing data?
A scanner that allows you to continuously rescan and find missing data points automatically
reduces chair time and the need for additional patient visits.

• What type of warranty does this scanner come with?

Every scanner in this eBook is covered by varying lengths of manufacturer warranty.

• Who are you purchasing your scanner from?

This is an important part of the decision because the vendor will often be the front-line of
support for your equipment. It is important to be fully aware of their abilities in comparison to the
manufacturer. This includes what they can cover, response times, etc.

• What are the opinions of your primary laboratory, dental peers, and the overall market?
It is important to discover what your primary and auxiliary labs believe would work best for your
office. Dental peers who have scanners will also provide valuable input. Information can also be
found from social media user groups for the respective scanners.
