Centre announces five new districts in Ladakh
 The Central govt has announced the creation of five new districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh. These new
districts are Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang.
Himachal Govt approves Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana
 The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, in a meeting at Shimla chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has
approved a new scheme, “Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana”. The scheme aims to provide financial support
to identified socially and economically vulnerable women and parents of disabled children so as to enable the
education and well-being of their children.
Maharashtra Becomes First State to Adopt Unified Pension Scheme
 The Maharashtra cabinet on Sunday has decided to implement the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) for state
government employees, making it the first state to adopt the scheme announced by the Union government the
previous day, According to the cabinet’s decision, the UPS will take effect from March this year and will benefit
all state government employees,
Spices Board of India launches scheme to boost exports, cardamom productivity
 The Spices Board of India has launched a transformative scheme ‘SPICED’ aimed at significantly enhancing the
export of spices and value-added spice products as well as improving the productivity of cardamom and
upgrading the post-harvest quality of spices for exports. The scheme, officially named ‘Sustainability in Spice
Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development,’ will be
implemented throughout the remainder of the 15th Finance Commission cycle.

Rajasthan Approves 33% Quota for Women in Police Force and more
 The Rajasthan government approved 33% reservation for women in the police force by deciding to amend the
State Police Subordinate Service Rules, 1989, The Cabinet also sanctioned a 5% additional allowance for
pensioners aged 70 to 75 years, following Chief Minister Sharma’s prior announcement. This will require a
replacement of Rule 54B in the pension regulations.
World’s 1st breeding centre for Asian King Vultures inaugurated in UP
 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Jatayu Conservation and Breeding Centre in the

31FP engines for Su-30MKI fighter jets. The contract, worth over Rs 26,000 crore, was signed on September 9,
in New Delhi. Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff,
were present at the signing.
Telangana signs MoU for World Trade Centre at AI City

Cabinet Approves PM E-DRIVE Scheme and more
 The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the PM Electric Drive Revolution in
Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme to promote electric mobility in India. The scheme, with
an outlay of Rs 10,900 crore over two years, aims to expedite EV adoption, improve air quality, and reduce the
environmental impact of transportation,
 The Union Cabinet also approved the PM-eBus Sewa-Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) scheme with a budget
of INR 3,435.33 crore. This initiative is designed to promote the deployment and operation of electric buses (e-
buses) by Public Transport Authorities (PTAs) from FY 2024-25 to FY 2028-29.
Maharashtra to establish Tribal University in Nashik
 Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan has said that a Tribal University with 80 percent reservation for
students from tribal communities will be set up in the Nashik district of Maharashtra, Nashik’s Guardian Minister
Dadaji Bhuse, deputy speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Narhari Zirwal, MP Bhaskar Bhagare and
representatives from various political parties were present.
Suzlon and NTPC Green Energy’s 370 windmills Deal
 Suzlon Ltd, India’s largest windmill manufacturer has secured the largest windmill order in India from NTPC
Green Energy Ltd, the renewable energy arm of NTPC, the country’s largest power producer. The windmills were
to be installed across three locations in Gujarat, with the aim of powering approximately three million
households.

Adani firms to sign 6.6 Gw power supply pact with Maharashtra discom
 Adani group entities - Adani Green Energy (AGEL) and Adani Power (APL) - announced on Sunday that they will
sign a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Maharashtra’s largest electricity distribution utility to
supply the state with a 6.6 gigawatt (GW) of combined solar and thermal power.

 Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) has joined hands with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to
develop India's first Zika virus vaccine. They have signed an agreement called a Memorandum of Agreement
(MoA) to work together on this project.

Delhi airport climbs to 24th in megahub rankings, Mumbai falls to 44tth
 Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has climbed to 24th place in the latest ranking of global
"megahub" airports, up from its previous 25th position, according to international aviation analytics firm OAG,
However, both Delhi and Mumbai airports fare better in OAG’s ranking of megahub airports for low-cost carrier
(LCC) operations. Thanks to IndiGo, the Delhi airport rose to 5th place, up from 6th last year, while Mumbai

RBI imposes penalty on UCO Bank & Cent Bank Home Finance
 The Reserve Bank of India has levied penalties on two banks: Rs 2.68 crore on UCO Bank for violating rules on
current accounts, interest on deposits, and fraud classification, and Rs 2.1 lakh on Cent Bank Home Finance Ltd
for not complying with KYC regulations.
RIL Becomes India’s First Company to Surpass Rs 10 Lakh Crore in Annual Revenue
 Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has made history as the first Indian company to exceed ₹10 lakh crore in annual
revenue. This milestone was revealed during RIL’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) by Chairman Mukesh Ambani.
For the financial year 2023-24, Reliance achieved a record consolidated turnover of ₹10,00,122 crore (USD 119.9
billion), with a net profit of ₹79,020 crore (USD 9.5 billion).
World Bank raises Indian growth forecast to 7 % in FY 25
 The World Bank has raised the growth forecast for the Indian economy in the current financial year (2024-25)
to 7 per cent from its earlier projection of 6.6 per cent. The upward revision in the World Bank forecast occurred
after the Indian economy recorded its lowest quarterly growth in fifteen months. The Indian economy grew by
6.7 per cent during the Q1(April-June) of the 2024-25 fiscal year.

Axis Bank introduces two innovative digital solutions
 Axis Bank launches 'UPI-ATM', an integrated Android Cash Recycler with Unified Payments Interface (UPI)
technology for cardless cash withdrawal and deposits. It also launched 'Bharat Connect (erstwhile BBPS) for
Business', in partnership with NPCI's Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL).
BOI launches 333-Day Star Dhan Vriddhi FD, offers 7.9% interest rates
 Bank of India (BOI) has launched a fixed deposit scheme called ‘Star Dhan Vriddhi Fixed Deposit' that will have
a term limit of 333 days. These revised rates are effective September 1, 2024.
 The Star Dhan Vriddhi Fixed Deposit offers an interest rate of 7.90 per cent per annum for the so-called super
senior citizens. Senior citizens can benefit from an interest rate of 7.75 per cent per annum, while the general
public is offered a rate of 7.25 per cent per annum.
Zurich Insurance Group acquired a 70% stake in Kotak General Insurance
 Kotak General Insurance has rebranded itself as Zurich Kotak General Insurance after Zurich Insurance Group
acquired a 70% stake in the company.
 This acquisition, finalised on June 18, marks a major foreign investment in India’s general insurance sector
following the government’s increase in the foreign direct investment (FDI) limit to 74% in 2021.

RBI fines HDFC Bank & Axis Bank for non-compliance
 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has fined the largest private sector bank, HDFC Bank, and the third largest
private bank, Axis Bank, for non-compliance with the RBI's regulatory norms.
Rs 1.91 crore fine on Axis Bank =
 The RBI fined Axis Bank Rs 1.91 crore for violating the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act 1949 regarding
the opening of savings accounts for ineligible persons, failing to issue unique customer identification codes
(UCIC), and improperly managing collateral for agricultural loans up to Rs 1.60 lakh.RBI also fined the bank for
its subsidiary's conduct in violating RBI’s norms.
Rs 1 crore fine on HDFC Bank =
 The RBI fined HDFC Bank Rs 1 crore for failing to follow RBI’s instructions regarding deposit interest rates,
recovery agents, and customer service practices. The bank was found guilty of paying first-year premiums for
the life insurance policies of some of its customers, opening accounts for ineligible entities, and failing to follow
customer contact guidelines.
SBI introduces 3 new offerings to ease payments for commuters
 State Bank of India introduces 3 new offerings to ease payments for commuters namely, the MTS RuPay NCMC
prepaid card, which provides an offline payment solution; the One View mobile app, a one-stop solution to
manage all SBI NCMC prepaid cards; and an advanced design for SBI FASTag that reduces travel time for
commuters.
RBI imposes penalty on BNP Paribas and 3 others for compliance lapses
 The Reserve Bank of India it has imposed a penalty of Rs 31.8 lakh on BNP Paribas (the bank) for certain
deficiencies in statutory and regulatory compliance.

Company, and Muthoot Vehicle & Asset Finance for non-compliance with certain norms.

 Bank of Baroda (BoB) has introduced ‘Aditi’, a GenAI-powered virtual relationship manager, to enhance the
digital customer service experience, These human-like interface presented in the form of digital avatars, offer
conversational banking across a range of services, Available on the bank’s web portal, the capability supports
audio, video and chat-based assistance ensuring 24x7 banking services with multilingual support. This service
is being gradually rolled out to our existing customers through an enrollment process available on the bank’s
website.
Jana Small Finance Bank launches Liquid Plus FD schemes at 6.75% interest rate
 Jana Small Finance Bank has floated a new FD scheme -- Liquid Plus Fixed Deposit -- at an interest rate of 6.75%
per annum for tenures ranging from 7 to 180 days. The rate is applicable to a minimum deposit of Rs 10 lakhs
for retail deposits up to Rs 3 crore, and for bulk deposits between Rs 3 crores and Rs 200 crores per customer
for a short period of time.
