Installing SQL server And SSMS (SQL server management studio)

• Installing SQL server


1. Obtain SQL Server installation software.
a. Visit link - SQL Server Downloads | Microsoft, Scroll down and download the
installer.

b. Double click the installer, the installation wizard has 3 options, since our
goal is simply to get an MS SQL database running, select Basic on the
Installation Type selection screen.

c. Microsoft SQL Server License Terms, click accept.


d. Install location (leave it default) and click Install.

e. Installation commences, (wait while it gets completed)

f. Installation complete (press close)


• Installing SSMS

A. Visit this link - Download SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) - SQL
Server Management Studio (SSMS) | Microsoft Learn, scroll down until you
see ‘DOWNLOAD SSMS’, click and download

B. Install SQL Server Management Studio


Locate the SSMS-Setup-ENU.exe file in your downloads folder
and double-click to run it.
C. After installation, restart the system and launch SSMS.
