@thevaibhavgoyal
let's get
started

@thevaibhavgoyal
provide an overview of inbound process in
simple terms

answer #1

@thevaibhavgoyal
#1
“in simple terms,
the process of receiving goods in the
warehouse is inbound process.

this includes follow-up steps such as

counting, quality check, deconsolidation
and finally, placing the goods in their
designated storage bins”

key takeaway
keep the answers concise and crisp

@thevaibhavgoyal
walk me through the inbound process
specific to the business of the project you
are currently working on

answer #2
the answer to this question entirely depends
upon the context of the business process of
the current project.

here I have used the example from the

inbound process video for answering this
question

@thevaibhavgoyal
#2
“in our current business process,
the purchasing team first raises a
purchase order to the supplier based on
purchasing requirements.

once the PO is issued, the supplier

arranges delivery to the warehouse as a
shipment.

when the shipment arrives, it is docked

at one of the warehouse doors.

a forklift then unloads the goods to the

staging area beside the doors. since the
goods are received on pallets, using a
forklift is essential in this process.

@thevaibhavgoyal
#2
once all goods are received in the
staging area, a sign-off is provided to
the shipment driver, and the shipment
departs from the warehouse.

from this point, the EWM system guides

users in the staging area to transport the
goods to bulk storage, typically using
forklifts.

when all goods are moved, the inbound

process is completed”

key takeaway
more business-oriented and less system
relevance answer
@thevaibhavgoyal
what are the key steps required to complete
the inbound process in the system

answer #3

@thevaibhavgoyal
#3
“for this answer, I'm assuming the IBD is
created in ERP successfully and has been
distributed to EWM.

since a TU is involved, the TU should first

arrive and then dock at the designated
door assuming yard management is not
active.

once docked, unloading tasks are

generated in EWM to guide users in
unloading goods to the specified Goods
Receipt Zone.

upon completing unloading, goods

receipt is posted in EWM, which sends an
update back to ERP.

@thevaibhavgoyal
#3
this leads in updating the inventory with
increase in stock levels in ERP plant and
storage location.

with putaway as the next step, created

warehouse tasks are confirmed in EWM
completing the inbound process”

key takeaway
more system-oriented answer while
maintaining relevance with business as well
@thevaibhavgoyal
are there any other processes that can be
categorized as inbound process?

answer #4
this question is essentially a trick question
to check logical think.

i would not expect a crisp answer to that,

but a logical answer will definitely leave a
good impression.

@thevaibhavgoyal
#4
“logically speaking,

inbound refers to receiving goods,

meaning any process where goods
enter the warehouse

– like returns or receiving goods from

production qualifies as inbound,
as both leads to increase in inventory
levels”

key takeaway
the answer is based on logic rather than
knowing the correct answer itself
@thevaibhavgoyal
are these answers
perfect?
not by a long shot!

the goal
• is not to be perfect
• it is to answer the questions with
all sincerity and the knowledge
that we posses.
