LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Bridge-in
Instruction:
What is RA 10157?

Pre-Assessment
Instruction:
Write “PAK” you agree with the statement and “EME” if not.
PAK 1. Friedrich Froebel advocated “Play as the highest expression of human
development.”
EME 2. Maria Montessori discovered the Multiple Intelligences.
PAK 3. Jean Piaget proposed the “Phases of Cognitive Development”.
PAK 4. Erik Erikson advocated the Psychological Stages of Development.
PAK 5. Lev Vygotzky emphasized the importance of “social interaction” which gives
impact in the development of children.

Participatory Learning
Instruction:
Enumerate and discuss the 3 educational factors to achieve effective learning according
to Froebel.
1. Play - According to Froebel, play is the chief instrument of learning for children. He
regarded play as a normal way of assessing the stage of development reached by a
child and how well the child has grasped the essence of the surrounding reality.
Through play, children explore and create, enabling them to test out their thoughts
and ideas. Froebel created toys and other educational materials known as gifts and
occupations to encourage this kind of play and aide in cognitive, social, and emotional
development.
2. Nature - Froebel insisted on the necessity of associating education with the natural
environment. He contended that being surrounded by natural elements raises the
level of curiosity, as well as the level of observation. Nature acts as a muse and
reservoir of intelligence, teaching children their role in the universe. To Froebel,
activities such as planting flowers and going on nature walks, promote learning, as
well as appreciation of the environment and a spirit of awe.
3. Community and Social Interaction - Froebel understood that the process of learning is
inherently social. As such, he recommended different forms of engagements which
would allow children to play together, to share things, and to enhance their level of
social competencies. Sociocultural factor is prominent in the development of
personality and increases the feelings of belonging to a group. While various levels of
interaction with adults and children are present in a child’s upbringing, these factors
teach them communication, conflict resolution, and empathy, which are all
indispensable facets of their development.

Post-Assessment
Instruction:
If you would make a research study in Kindergarten or Early Childhood Education, what
would it be?
I would like to research about the practical implications and importance of using nature
in kindergarten classrooms. For this purposes, and how the natural environments,
including outdoor playing grounds, nature walks etc., would affect children’s mental
abilities particularly problem-solving skills, promotion of creativity, and maintaining
attention.

Closure Activity
Instruction:
As future educator, how can you use play in your classroom?
As a future educator, I would use play-based methods in my curriculum to give students
room to create, their creativity, problem-solving skills, and to express their emotional
intelligence through activity. With such motivation, I will create an environment that
integrates learning with fun to help students develop an interest in learning, cultivate a
culture of studying and promote their well-being.
