GUIDELINES, PROCEDURES AND RULES FOR

BBA SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROJECT

This document gives guidelines, procedures and rules for the Summer Internship Project, which is a
compulsory requirement for the award of BBA degree at School of Business Studies, Sharda
University

Every student has to do minimum six weeks’ mandatory summer internship in any industry/
company.

Please consider the following points for the preparation of project report:

1. Topic for Project Report


• The selected topic should be problem oriented as well as product, market and industry specific.
• It must have the potential to make a significant research work of products or services in relation to
the identified problem.
• It should pertain to original and individual work performance. Exactly same work should not be
assigned to more than one student.
• In case, the project size is large and needs to be allocated amongst team members, the project title
and scope shall clearly address the role for a module or unit assigned to individual.

2. Two (02) neatly typed and bound copies (maroon color) of the report must be prepared by each student,
one with original certificates from institute & organization (certificate of successful completion from
faculty supervisor and the organization must be enclosed in the project report). In absence of
completion certificates, the project submission would be deemed as non-submission. For such cases
student would be fully responsible.

3. Use the photocopy of certificates in the copy of report.

4. The student need to bring Report with original certificate at the time of Viva and the true copy report
are to be submitted to the college.
Format of the preparation of report
1. The Report will consist of the following:
a. Cover page on specified format
b. Certificate from College, signed by the Faculty Supervisor (Collect it from your supervisor)
c. Certificate from Summer Training Organization
d. Preface
e. Acknowledgement
f. Table of Contents
2. Part I (Overview of the Organisation)

• About the summer training organization and the industry


• Brief history of the organization
• Organizational structure
• Performance
• Products/services
• Competitors
• Swot Analysis

3. Part II (Plan of your internship program)

• A brief introduction of the branch/ area office of the organization where you did your
internship
• Starting and ending dates of your internship
• Names of the departments in which you got training and the duration of your training

4. Training Program

a. Detailed description of the operations/activities performed by the department(s) you worked in.

b. Detailed description of the task(s) assigned to you OR detailed description of the project assigned.

5. Reflective Dairy Entries

a. In reflective dairy writing, student will reflect on all activities during each day of internship in that
organization and then will enter in reflective dairy on daily basis.
b. Entry for a single day should be very comprehensive and should include all important happenings
of that particular day. A comprehensive dairy not only includes information on assignments and
tasks you are given, but also your impression of the organization and the staff at your internship.

6. Work Samples (word limit for this section is not specified as it depends on the nature of work
sample)

Compile at least 2 samples of your work during your internship. Some examples of work samples
include: news stories, articles, interviews, spreadsheets, log sheet etc. Each work sample should
have a short description of your role in that work sample or how you used the sample.

7. Critical Analysis
Relate the theoretical concepts with your practical experience during your internship in the organization.
Execute an overall analysis of the organization.

8. Learning Outcomes
Based on your nature of your internship, share your detailed learning outcomes as a value addition to your
skill set.

9. Conclusion
In this section you are required to describe the organization according to your evaluation/assessment in the
light of critical and SWOT analyses.

10. Recommendation
In this section you are required to suggest solutions for all the problems or discrepancies (you have pointed
out in critical/ SWOT analysis) found in the organization

11. References & Sources


In this section, provide all the references and sources in APA format that you have used for data collection
in your Internship Report.

12. Annexes
At the end of your report, attach all of the supportive material you have used for the preparation of your
report, like brochures, forms, newsletters, interviews, questionnaires, news reports, articles, features,
columns etc.
Guidelines for formatting

1. The average size of Report must be 60 - 80 A-4 pages, typed in Times New Roman font size 12, with
double spacing. Chapter Headings and Major Headings must be in Font Size 16 and Sub Headings in Size
14.

2. The entire report should be double spaced with 1-inch margin on top, right and bottom sides and 1.5-
inch margin on left side.

3. The page numbering for the pages up to and including Table of Contents should be in Roman small
numbers (i.e., i, ii, iii and so on). Thereafter, starting from Part 1, pages should be numbered as 1, 2, 3 and
so on.

4. In Bibliography of References, detailed reference is required for each data source, whether it is a book,
journal, magazine, newspaper, government publication or a website. The format of providing reference:

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

An Executive Summary is a brief or condensed summary of the work assigned and performed
during the project. It is comprised of problem definition, work assigned, methodology adopted for
the performance of work assigned, findings, limitations, directions for future development, if any.
