CRITERIA
1. Interpretation 35%

2. BINALAYBAY
1. The contest is open to all bonafide students of their respective schools.
2. The contest piece must be original and must focus on to the theme “Aton
Kalibutan, Aton Amligan".
3. Microphone must be used.
4. Interpretation of the piece must not only focus on the eyes and facial expressions,
but it should include appropriate body movements. No other parts of the body must
touch the floor except the feet.
5. A minimum of five (5) minutes and a maximum of seven (7) minutes. The timer will
ring the bell at the end of seven (7) minutes and one (1) point will be deducted from
the total score for every thirty (30) seconds exceeded.
6. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

1. Choice of Piece (Relevance to the theme) 20%
2. Delivery (Voice Projection, Diction & Pronunciation) 20 %
3. Mastery 20 %
4. Interpretation (appropriate vocal variety, mood, rate, & rhythm) 20 %
5. Platform behavior (movement on stage/blocking) 10 %
6. Poise, Appropriateness of Attire & Stage Presence 10 %

3. VOCAL SOLO POP SONG
RULES AND MECHANICS
1. The contest piece must be an Original Pilipino Music (OPM) composed by a
Filipino composer written in English or Filipino language.
2. The contestant is free to modify/arrange their chosen piece.
3. The use of accompaniment such as minus one, CD or USB are allowed, but the
use of live music is not allowed. Furthermore, coaches are the ones to operate their
music.
4. The participants is free to choose a composition suited to his/her voice range.
Back-up singers in the minus one is allowed provided they do not sing louder than
the soloist during the entire performance.
5. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

2. Musicianship (Melody, Rhythm, Tempo, Dynamics) 20 %
3. Style (Interpretation) 20 %
4. Enunciation (Clarity of Sounds, Vowels and Consonants) 10 %
5. Suitability of the Piece (Quality, Suitability to the singer’s range) 10 %
6. Stage Deportment (Stage Presence, Showmanship) 10%

4. VOCAL SOLO CLASSICAL – VISAYAN FOLK SONG
RULES AND MECHANICS
1. The contest piece must be a Visayan Classical composition.
2. The soloist must sing with CD or USB accompaniment in Piano setting form.
3. Popular song (pop song) is not allowed.
4. Transposition is not allowed.
5. Contestants are free to choose any Visayan Classical composition in any Visayan
dialect.
6. Original copy of the composer’s/writer’s musical score must be submitted three (3)
days before the competition. (March 06, 2023)
7. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

2. Musicianship (Interpretation as to Melody, Rhythm, Tempo, Dynamics) 30 %
3. Enunciation (Clarity of Sounds, Vowels and Consonants) 10 %
4. Suitability of the Piece (Quality, Suitability to the singer’s range) 10 %
5. Stage Deportment (Stage Presence, Showmanship) 10%

5. COMPOSO DUET
RULES AND MECHANICS
1. The lyric of the song should be in the local dialect and should depict the theme
“Aton Kalibutan, Aton Amligan”.
2. It should tell a story and end with a lesson.
3. The song must not exceed five (5) minutes. One (1) point will be deducted from
the total score for every thirty (30) seconds exceeded.
4. The performer may either be both males, both females and a combination of both.
5. The accompaniment is limited to acoustic guitar setting only. It’s live or recorded.
6. Modulation or refrain is not allowed.
7. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.
