Difficulty in Cab Tilting
Atego vehicles - STB Cab (Standard Low Roof)

This circular letter has the purpose to guide in the


correct procedure to be adopted in the case of com-
plaints of difficulties in cab tilting (heavy tilting) on
Atego vehicles fitted with STB (Standard Low Roof)
cab.

This operation consists in the setting of the torsion


bar (4), which permits a better performance of the
tilting system.

NOTE: As from the progressive number...432.422,


the following procedures may not be neces-
sary any more.

1 - Side screw 3 - Jam-nut


2 - Setting screw 4 - Torsion bar
PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Before starting the job on the vehicle,


make sure all safety measures are fol-
lowed as stated in the Service Infor-
mation. - Gr.: 00 - Nr.: 11/05.

1 - Tilting the cab - see SELiT (Electronic System of


Technical Literature) document number AR60.80-
B-0010F.

2 - Check and take note of cab opening value


between points A and B.

NOTES:

- Correct value in millimeters between points A and B


= 550 to 600.

- A = Rear wall of cab.

- B = Chassis side rail.

3 - Slacken the screw (1), do not remove.

4 - Slacken the jam-nut (3), do not remove.

5 - Adjust cab opening turning the screw (2) as per fol-


lowing indications:

- Value found between points A and B (see proce-


dure 2) below 550mm, turn the screw (2) clockwise
(tightening) to increase torsion bar tension;

- Value found between points A and B (see proce-


dure 2) above 600mm, turn the screw (2) anti-
clockwise (slackening) to reduce torsion bar tension;

6 - Retighten the jam-nut (3).

7 - Retighten the side screw (1). Tightening torque = 140Nm.

8 - Tilt cab back to normal operating position.

9 - Repeat procedures 1 and 2 to check if the new value found is correct, if necessary carry out procedures once
again.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

For those vehicles within the warranty period, the job will be carried out without charges to the customer. For
reimbursement, send a Warranty Claim (S.G.) to the factory, mentioning the S.I. number.
