A conceptual framework is a model or idea that helps researchers organize and understand the factors that influence a
research problem. A conceptual framework sets forth the standards to define a research question and find appropriate,
meaningful answers for the same. It connects the theories, assumptions, beliefs, and concepts behind research and presents
them in a pictorial, graphical, or narrative format.
The present study aims at evaluating the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on uterine prolapse and its
prevention among married women. The conceptual framework selected for the present study is based on General systems
theory by Karl Ludwig Von Bertalanffy (1960). Systems Theory is an exchanged theory, an exchange of energy, materials
and information with the environment. It is characteristized by-----------
In the present study, married women are considered as a system because they receive the information from the environment.
Input: The first component of a system is input, which is the information, matter or energy that enters into a system
from the environment.
In the present study, input refers to the demographic variables of married women in both experimental and control
groups. These factors were taken into consideration on input for evaluation of effectiveness of planned teaching programme
regarding uterine prolapse and its prevention.
Throughput: Throughput refers to the processes by which the systems process, changes and recognize the import
energy.
In the present study, throughput consists of assessment of pretest knowledge regarding uterine prolapse and its
prevention of married women in both experimental and control groups,
administration of planned teaching parenting in experimental group and assessment of post test knowledge of both the
groups.
Output: Output is the goods, service, and/or intellectual products which results from the systems’ throughput.
In the present study, output refers to the change in knowledge of married women after the administration of planned
teaching programme on uterine prolapse and its prevention which is measured as adequate knowledge, moderate
knowledge, and inadequate knowledge.
Feedback : Feedback refers to the part of the output which returns to the system that allows it to monitor itself
overtime in an attempt to move closer to a steady state known as equilibrium or homeostasis. Feedback is not
included in the present study.
