Art and Music are essential part of people’s lives. It is a skill that one must be
supported to develop, and it may lead to various opportunities locally and
abroad as well. It is difficult to imagine life without it as life will be dull and
dark. With that being said, it is inevitable that some arguments arose such as
whether the government should allocate funds to support artists such as
painters, poets and musicians or not.

Nowadays, art and music are not only used as a past time activity, but it also
brings numerous advantages to society. Apparently, this can promote
economic growth as it provides not only several jobs but also business
opportunities. It has been observed that there are artists who were
discovered and converted their skills into a tremendous source of income. In
addition, exhibits and concerts also attract tourists. Therefore, it creates a
drastic positive outcome in global tourism. And thus, it also promotes social
cohesiveness and great cultural diversity as people get together no matter
what nationalities are to enjoy what art and music can offer. For example,
foreigners tend to visit to other parts of the world just to visit museums,
exhibits and heritages, people also spend time to travel and allot leisure
funds to see their favorite artists.

Moreover, art and music are not just about singing or creating masterpieces,
but it is also a medium for freedom of expression and imparting knowledge
and information. It has been observed that these activities develop creativity
and promote critical thinking. Hence, with positive outcomes, the
government is encouraged to allocate funds to support it.

On the contrary, most people argue that there are more issues that the
government must prioritize such as education, health care and
infrastructures as in today’s world it is undeniable that the government lacks
funds to provide people with their needs in these aspects. Several individuals
also claims that these activities must be funded by the private sectors and if
the artists are competitively talented they do not need the budget from the
government and they can work themselves to the top.

I therefore conclude that with more positive effects that art and music bring
to our country the government should seek ways to include art and music in
the funds. I believe, without corruption, enough budget can be raised to
combat issues of health, education and infrastructures as well as art and
music.
